John C. Sandison

Special Olympics   Volunteer

John C. “Jack” Sandison, 75, died December 12 at home in Plainville. Mr Sandison was born in 1930 in Quincy, Mass., the fourth of six children of James and Esther Sandison.

He is survived by two children, his son John Clinton Sandison and wife, Rhonda, of Newtown and their children, James and Skyeler Sandison; and his daughter Dauri Ann Quinton, and husband, Mark, of Winter Park, Fla., and their children, Lorne and Alexa Malpartida, and Anna V. Quinton. His sister Carol Sandison of Hull, Mass., also survives him. He leaves many nieces, as well as grandnephews and nieces. His older brother James Sandison and sisters Winifred Sandison, Barbara Sandison, Jeanne Donlan, and Marilyn Wright predeceased him.

Mr Sandison graduated from Key West High School and the Charles Morris Price School of Advertising and Journalism in Philadelphia. A natural athlete with an excellent singing voice, he spent four years in the Navy, where he played baseball and sang in the Navy choir.

He was married for 30 years to Lorraine A. Stec of New Britain and lived much of his life in Farmington. He ran his own business for 25 years and was a longtime member of the Greater Hartford World Series Club, where he was awarded the Walter Lawrence honor in 1990. For the last seven years, Mr Sandison worked as a sales director of the Triple Springs Water Company in Meriden.

He loved competition and was an avid golfer who played pinochle every Wednesday, and was an accomplished cribbage player. He was also an active volunteer for the Special Olympics

A memorial service is being held at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad Street, Plainville, on Sunday, December 18, at 1 pm. Friends and family are welcome to call after noon.
