Hiteshews Celebrate 50 Years
Mr and Mrs Merhl Hiteshew
Merhl and Lee Hiteshew will celebrate 50 years of marriage on Saturday, December 17. Mrs Hiteshew is the former Leila âLeeâ Johnson of Waterbury. The Hiteshews were married on December 17, 1955, in Zion Lutheran Church in Waterbury. They have lived on Pleasant Hill Road in Newtown for 41 years.
Mr and Mrs Hiteshew met while attending Upsala College in East Orange, N.J. Mr Hiteshew served in the US Army in Japan and Korea. He holds an MBA from Columbia University Graduate School of Business and has worked in various firms in human resources and industrial relations.
Mrs Hiteshew worked for Boehringer Ingelheim until her retirement.
On August 7, their children, Karin Helsel of Newtown, John Hiteshew and wife, Susan, of Sandy Hook, David Hiteshew and wife, Virginia, of Chicago, and Stephen Hiteshew and wife, Kimberly, of Bethel, honored the couple at a party of more than 40 guests in the home of Steve and Kimberly Hiteshew. Guests from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Illinois were present, as were their grandchildren, Erica Helsel of Newtown, Tara and Christopher Hiteshew of Sandy Hook, and Caroline, Virginia, and William Hiteshew of Chicago.
