Will Be A Circus Of Arts

BRIDGEPORT — For the very first time, the city of Bridgeport will be holding its own First Night throughout downtown Bridgeport on New Year’s Eve, with 14 different performance venues.

The 2006 theme for Bridgeport’s First Night is A Circus of the Arts, in recognition of the city’s long and illustrious history with P.T. Barnum and the city’s emerging arts scene. Family-oriented activities and performances begin in late afternoon, running from 4 to 7 pm.

Hat and mask making, drumming, storytelling, mime and juggling performances will also be taking place. Many more activities and performances are still being scheduled and will be announced closer to New Year’s Eve.

Admission to events will be by First Night Buttons, which are $7 for adults and $1 for children.
