Down At Florida Field Hockey Festival

Ten players from the Newtown High School field hockey program spent Thanksgiving at the 2005 National Field Hockey Festival in West Palm Beach, Florida. The event was hosted by the USA Field Hockey Association. Premier teams from more than 30 states competed during the four-day tournament. Connecticut sent three teams – the U19 Connecticut Wave, the U19 Connecticut Crush and the U16 Connecticut Crush – and all three had Newtown representatives. On the U19 Crush, which went 3-2-1 and defeated teams from Ohio, Maryland and Pennsylvania, were Lisa Alberico (2005 NHS co-captain), Lauren Babbage, Rita Magliocco, Sam Wong (2006 NHS co-captain) and Erin Clark (2005 NHS co-captain). On the U16 Connecticut Crush (1-4-1 with a 2-1 win over Pocono) were Courtney Gleason and Libby Feltch and on the U19 Connecticut Wave were Nicole Alberico, Katie Datin (2006 NHS co-captain) and Hannah Tenenbaum.
