A Christmas Concert Dec. 18 At NCC
Newtown Congregational Church will host a Brass Band Christmas Concert Sunday, December 18, at 3 pm, at the church on West Street. The 21-piece Danbury Brass Band will be joined by the Senior Choir of the host church as well as that of St Anthonyâs Church in Danbury.
The band, led by Alan Raph, is comprised of cornets, euphoniums, trombones, French horns, tubas, and percussion and will feature original music written by its members. The band has toured internationally and has musicians from western Connecticut, eastern New York, and New Jersey. The band has been playing together for 22 years.
Brandee Carl-Werner will be the soprano soloist on many of the Danbury Brass Bandâs pieces. The NCC Choir along with some of St Anthonyâs Choir will sing John Rutterâs âGloriaâ written for choir, brass percussion, and organ. The organist is Phil Crevier of the Newtown Congregational Church. Dan Coffman, choir director from the Congregational Church, will be singing with his choir.
