Police are asking the public for help in solving some thefts of items from vehicles that occurred at Old Purdy Station Road, near Hattertown Road.

Police said that sometime during the past week, someone entered two unlocked vehicles that were parked outdoors and stole various items from within them. The thefts may have occurred overnight on December 6-7, police said.

Items stolen from the vehicles included a purse, credit cards, gifts cards, cash, a driver's license, and sunglasses, police said. The loss value is in the hundreds of dollars, police said.

Police received a report of the thefts on the night of December 12. Police ask anyone with information on the thefts to contact them at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.

Police urge residents to keep their vehicles locked when unattended and to keep any valuable items within those vehicles out of plain sight.

The Old Purdy Station Road thefts are the only such incidents that have been reported recently, police said.

During the past several years, police have investigated occasional rashes of thefts from vehicles and always have urged residents to keep their vehicles secured when unattended.
