Winter Softball Training
Newtown Babe Ruth softball will be offering winter training opportunities for those players looking to enhance their skills for the spring and summer softball seasons. Any girl registered with the Newtown Babe Ruth Softball League and who is 8 years old or eligible by age for the travel programs (U10 through U16) is welcome to sign up for the winter training program. The program is designed to provide advanced skills training for the competitive fast pitch player.
The fee is $100 (make checks payable to Newtown Babe Ruth Softball).
Training sessions will begin Sunday, January 14, and continue for five 90-minute sessions through February 25. Heather Stone, the new head softball coach at Western Connecticut State University, her assistant coaches and college team players will lead players through a variety of skills and strategies they will need to compete at a higher level.
Dates â Sunday, January 14, 21 and 28 and Sunday, February 11 and 25 (snow date is February 18, if necessary). Times â 8 year olds, U10 and first-year U12 players will meet from 5:30 to 7 pm; second-year U12 players and U14 and U16 players will meet from 7:30 to 9 pm. Location â Danbury PAL Building, 35 Hayestown Road, in Danbury (Exit 6 off I-84 West, turn right off ramp, turn right at first right onto Hayestown Road, go two-tenths of a mile, at lift turn left onto Tamarack Avenue (Tamarack becomes East Hayestown Road), go eight-tenths of a mile to Danbury PAL building on the right).
