Master Chorale Announces Openings

Connecticut Master Chorale, under the direction of Tina Johns Heidrich, is scheduling auditions for its upcoming 2007 spring concert season.

On March 11, the Chorale will perform Karl Jenkins’ Adiemus and his newly released Requiem. Mr Jenkins has gained much recognition for his music used in TV and advertisements, most notably the music heard on the DeBeers diamond commercial, and the choral music (Adiemus) heard on the Delta Airlines commercial.

Also on the program will be the exuberant “Bless Ye the Lord” by Ralph Vaughan Williams.

The concert will be accompanied by the Connecticut Master Chorale Orchestra.

A steel drum band will accompany the chorale in its May 2007 performance of A Caribbean Mass by Glenn McClure. This concert will also include “Songs From My Heart,” a collection of spirituals by the master of spiritual form, Andre Thomas.

Both concerts will be performed at St Rose of Lima Church in Newtown.

Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings at South Britain Congregational Church in Southbury and begin January 2.

The Connecticut Master Chorale is an ensemble of 55 high-caliber vocalists who live in western Connecticut. In addition to its regular three-concert season, the chorale has performed at The White House, Carnegie Hall (three times), Madison Square Garden, and West Point Military Academy, all by invitation. To schedule an audition, call 775-2602 or visit CMChorale.org.
