Who Knew Her
Linda C. Battista, 82, Sandy Hook, beloved wife of the late Russell J. Battista, Sr, died at Danbury Hospital December 12.
Mrs Battista was born in Portugal, February 27, 1924, daughter of Jose and Maria (Simoes) Miguel. She immigrated to the United States with her family in 1933 and lived in Danbury for most of her life. She worked for the former David & Geck Company, until their closure and then went on to work as a lab technician for the former National Semi-Conductor Company, where she worked until her retirement.
She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She blessed many with her sense of humor. Her positive attitude and determination were an inspiration to all that knew her. She was a member of the Lupus Foundation.
She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Lourenco and husband, Albert, of Newtown and Mary Ann Hinckley of Danbury; two sons, Russell J. Battista, Jr and wife, Sara, of Huntington, and Frank Battista and wife, Anne, of Enfield; six grandchildren, Linda Lourenco, Melissa Lourenco, Alan Lourenco, Jonathan Hinckley, Kate Battista, and Kevin Battista; as well as a brother, Mac Miguel of St Petersburg, Fla.; and three sisters, Phyllis MacKinnon, Eleanor Cassidy, and Julie Corona, all of Danbury; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Larry and Manny Miguel.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St Peter Church, Danbury, on December 14. Burial was in St Peter Cemetery.
