A Visit From

St Nicholas

Children at Trinity Church had a special visitor on St Nicholas Day earlier this month. They took off their shoes and left them by the fireplace to find special treats in them at the end of the event, which included stories, games, cookie decorating, and crafts about this beloved saint.

During the special program, St Nicholas told the children a story about how he once threw three bags of gold down the chimney to a needy family. Historians believe this may be why children hang stockings by the fireplace each year at Christmastime.

After the story, each child received their own bag of chocolate gold coins from St Nicholas.

This weekend Trinity will host its annual pageant, a public event to be presented on Sunday afternoon at 4. The tableau-style presentation will feature Trinity Day School fourth and fifth graders, The Trinity Choristers and Primary Choir. The audience will be surrounded by music played on the church’s Austin organ, and the event will close with traditional carols and an audience sing-along.
