Rita B. Robertson, 87, of Ridgefield, wife of the late John M. Robertson, died December 12. She was born on May 16, 1929, in Stamford, a daughter of the late Johanna (O'Sullivan) and Bernard Barney.

Her four children and their spouses, Mary-Jane R. and Larry Vendel of Newtown, Lynn J. Robertson of Coventry, Joan R. and Stephen Varga of Southbury, and John M. Jr and Mary Ellen Robertson of New Fairfield, survive her. In addition to her children and their spouses, Mrs Robertson is survived by eight grandchildren, Cheryl, John III, Ted, Joe, Cathy, Lucas, Betsy, and Lisa; as well as four great-grandchildren.

A resident of Ridgefield for the past 51 years, Mrs Robertson was an assistant registrar of voters in town, an active member of both the Ridgefield Women's Golf League and Founders Hall, and a longtime volunteer income tax preparer in Port Charlotte, Fla., where she spent the winter months. She was a faithful member of St Mary Roman Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 15, at 10:15 am, at St Mary Roman Catholic Church, 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment will follow in St Mary Cemetery, 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, December 14, from 4 to 7 pm at Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield.
