Master Chorale Has Openings

In Alto And Bass Sections

SOUTH BRITAIN — The Connecticut Master Chorale, under the direction of Tina Johns, is holding auditions for its upcoming spring concert season. There are currently openings in the alto and bass sections.

On March 9, the Chorale will perform John Rutter’s new Winchester Te Deum, along with Gounod’s St. Cecilia Mass and Miklos Rozsa’s Ben Hur Choral Suite.

Carmina Burana by Carl Orff will be the featured work for the Chorale’s May 17 concert.

Both concerts will be accompanied by the Connecticut Master Chorale Orchestra and will be held at St Rose of Lima in Newtown.

Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings at South Britain Congregational Church in Southbury and begin January 8.

The Connecticut Master Chorale is an ensemble of 55 vocalists from western Connecticut. In addition to the regular three-concert season, the chorale has performed at the White House, Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, and West Point Military Academy, all by invitation. For more information, visit CMChorale.org.

To schedule an audition, call Ms Johns at 775-2602.
