Gas Prices In Connecticut Up While Prices Go Down Elsewhere

HARTFORD (AP) — AAA says that while much of the country is seeing gasoline prices drop, the price at pumps in Connecticut continues to go up.

In the past month, gas prices have gone up by two cents a gallon in the state and the rest of Southern New England.

Connecticut motorists are paying an average of $3.23 for a gallon of regular unleaded gas, up from $3.21 in November.

In December 2006, the price was $2.42 a gallon.

The highest prices in the eight states in the Northeast are in New York at $3.27 a gallon, with Connecticut coming in second.

Nationally, the average price went down in the past month, from $3.10 to $3. A year ago the national average was $2.29 a gallon.

The automobile association surveys about 1,000 gas stations in Connecticut and nearly 100,000 across the country daily to determine average prices.
