Will Perform Benefit Concert For CACD Food Pantry
DANBURY â On Saturday, December 15, at 7:30, Doug Hartline & Friends will join forces with his Mr Hartlineâs sister, the dancer and choreographer Diane Fried, for a Christmas concert benefiting the Community Action Committee of Danbury (CACD). The performance will be in the Marian Anderson Recital Hall at Danbury Music Centre.
Mr Hartline may be one of Connecticutâs best-kept secrets. His Simple Gifts, A Gentle Presence, Itâs Nice to Be Home and From the Heart CDs demonstrate his ability to write strong, memorable melodies. His style might be considered jazz with strong folk influences; think Pat Metheny meets James Taylor. Critics have described his sound as buoyant, soulful, bright, and positive.
The performance will feature Mr Hartline on acoustic and electric guitars, Nick Bariluk on keyboards, Gary Blu on flute and sax, Wayne Zito on bass, and Rick Quintanal on drums/percussion.
Diane Fried has choreographed several musical numbers adding an exciting dimension to the performance. Diane and Karen Casagrande (both of Hot Shoes Dance Company of Ridgefield) will dance to pieces made popular by Miles Davis, Bonnie Raitt, and Jonathan Butler.
This should prove to be a thoroughly engaging performance for a good cause. All are requested to bring non-perishable goods, to restock the depleted Community Action Committee of Danbury food pantry. Needed items include peanut butter, canned juices, cereal, tooth paste, and toiletries. Financial donations will also be accepted.
General admission tickets for the show will be available at the door for $12.
Danbury Music Centre is at 256 Main Street, with a brand-new municipal parking facility located directly behind the music center.
