Committee Volunteers Needed For ACS Gala

The American Cancer Society is looking for some energetic individuals to help organize a night of fancy fun and fight cancer in the process.

Volunteers are needed for the American Cancer Society’s Second Annual Fairfield County Gala Committee. The theme of this year’s gala is “Some Enchanted Evening” and it is scheduled for Saturday, May 10, at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich.

“Cancer touches all of us in one way or another,” American Cancer Society Community Executive Carol Frattaroli said. “The Fairfield County Gala is a fun way for individuals to make a difference by supporting breakthrough cancer research, services for cancer patients and their caregivers, and to help spread the word about how to help prevent cancer through lifestyle changes and regular screenings.”

Last year, an estimated 350 gala guests raised more than $200,000 for the American Cancer Society’s research, education, support services, and advocacy.

The gala also honors area physicians that excel in cancer treatment with the American Cancer Society’s Star of Hope Award. This prestigious award recognizes individuals who demonstrate excellence in providing compassionate and skilled care for people facing cancer and their unyielding contribution in the cancer fight.

This year’s honorees are Dr Neal Fischbach of Bridgeport Hospital; Dr Dickerman Hollister Jr of Greenwich Hospital; Dr Frank Masino of Stamford Hospital; Dr Lawrence Muldoon of St Vincent’s Medical Center; and Nancy Sokolowski of Norwalk Hospital.
