Nick’s Restaurant & Catering, 4 Starr Street in Danbury, just off of South Street (Route 53) has been satisfying customers for more than25 years. As of December, owners Frank and Victor DeGirlamo of Newtown are pleased to announce that renovations to the space have been completed.

Shiny hardwood tabletops brighten the room and new chairs provide comfortable seating in the main dining room. Booth seating provides additional seating. A brick wall in the dining area adds a note of warmth to the atmosphere and new window treatments and carpeting mean that the changes are seen floor to ceiling, and appreciated by customers old and new. All in all, said Victor DeGirlamo, they are pleased with the more streamlined effect.

Lunch, dinner, and pizza menus have been updated along with the décor, but Nick’s continues to specialize in the cuisines of the various Italian regions. “All of the longtime favorites are still on the menu,” Victor DeGirlamo assured, “along with some new specials.” Lunch and dinner specials change daily, with the season.

In addition to the regular and Sicilian-style pizzas that Frank DeGirlamo has been turning out of the kitchen for more than two decades, diners will find a new selection of specialty pizzas at Nick’s. Dough and sauce are proudly made on premises, and the youngest diners will still be given a ball of pizza dough for predinner amusement, as always.

An expanded wine list enhances the dining experience, said Victor DeGirlamo, and includes California wines, Italian wines, and wines from around the world, at a range of prices. Imported and domestic beers are available by the bottle.

Catering has always been a significant part of the restaurant’s business, and that has not changed. Nick’s specializes in full-service, offsite catering for any size party. From graduations, business meetings, and corporate picnics to weddings and private parties, Nick’s is happy to provide not only food items, but also staff, linens, tableware, and all of the other accoutrements needed for special occasions. Private parties are welcomed at the restaurant, as well.
