December 14, 2012 forever and unalterably changed the lives of the 26 families whose loved ones were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The families were overwhelmed by the outpouring of kindness, love, prayers, and generosity received from the entire world.

In the midst of their grief the families realized that they wanted their loved ones to be remembered for the lives they lived and how they touched the hearts of those who already knew and loved them. The parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, et al were uplifted by the support of so many people. They wanted to keep that spirit of unity and love alive.

With that in mind, the collective families created the website MySandyHookFamily.org.

The website is intended to serve as a singular place of sharing, communication, and contact with the families of those who lost their lives that day. MySandyHookFamily.org allows the 26 families the opportunity to honor their loved ones in a way that feels right to each individual family.

Each family is unique in their own experiences following 12/14. Each has their own voice and perspective.

By creating MySandyHookFamily.org, the group hoped to offer an opportunity to communicate with all families and honor their loved ones, while at the same time respecting each family’s individual journey and unique experiences.

The Newtown Bee is honored to have been asked to remind readers to visit that website, the family-approved location, to learn about the 20 children and six women and how their families have chosen to remember and honor them.

MySandyHookFamily.org is intended to serve as a singular place of sharing, communication, and contact with the families of those who died at Sandy Hook School. The website, with its interactive graphic designed by Bill Begany of Sandy Hook, allows the 26 families the opportunity to honor their loved ones in a way that feels right to each individual family.
