Three of Newtown’s houses of worship will host memorial services this weekend commemorating the seventh anniversary of 12/14.

On Friday, December 13, Congregation Adath Israel will hold its annual memorial service during Friday evening Shabbat service. The service will begin at 7:30 pm at the synagogue, 115 Huntingtown Road.

Members of the community, along with residents of neighboring communities, are invited to join Adath Israel members as they join together to mourn the terrible loss and to remember the day that forever changed so many.

The service will include the chanting of El Malei (the Mourner’s Prayer) and other memorial readings. In addition, the names of all who lost their lives that day will be read.

As a community, all will stand and recite the Mourners Kaddish together.

A traditional Oneg, with refreshments, will follow the service, which honors the Sabbath.

For additional information, contact the synagogue at 203-426-5188.
