âTrue Love Never Diesâ
Wesley J. Stanton, 94, of Newtown, cherished and beloved husband of Ruth C. Stanton, died December 1, at the Bethel Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Stratford, May 31, 1914, he was the son of Christine and Wesley Stanton.
Mr Stanton resided in Accokeek, Md., for many years before returning to Newtown where he had grown up. He was a carpenter and was proud of the many homes he had built. He was an avid gardener and was at one time president of the garden club in Maryland. His yard would have hundreds of beautiful daffodils and flowers every year.
Mr Stanton had his own ceramic shop, which he enjoyed very much. He was a talented artist and enjoyed painting, and was also a wonderful cook. Mr Stanton was an accomplished drummer and played in the Dizzy Gillespie Band.
His major passions were his animals and wildlife. He had many cats, and gave generously to many organizations to help homeless animals. He loved life and was kind to everyone, and in return everyone loved and respected him.
The main love of his life was his wife, Ruth, whom he met when they attended Newtown High School together. He would always say that âtrue love never dies,â and it never did.
Besides his wife he leaves a son, Wesley Stanton; two daughters, Michele MacKenzie and Deborah McPadden; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank all the nurses and aides at Bethel Health Care for their care, kindness, and compassion.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.
Donations in his memory may be made to an animal charity of oneâs choice.
Arrangements are in care of the Dennis & DâArcy Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford.
