DUI Arrest
At about 1:20 am on December 7, a state Department of Transportation (DOT) crew called police to alert them of a vehicle that was stopped with its engine running in the westbound travel lane of Route 34 (Berkshire Road) near the Misty Vale Deli, so police went there to investigate.
Both the vehicleâs driver, Jossie Rivera, 42, of Waterbury and a female passenger were found unconscious inside the vehicle, police said.
Police said that Rivera was awakened and he was determined to be intoxicated. Both Rivera and the female passenger were transported to Danbury Hospital to be medically checked, police said.
Police later charged Rivera with driving under the influence and with improper parking. Police later released Rivera on $100 bail for a December 19 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Lexus Vs Flatbed
Police report an accident involving a luxury car and a commercial truck about 1 pm December 4 on Church Hill Road in front of the Blue Colony Diner.
Motorist Muriel Galda, 69, of Indiatlantic, Fla., who was driving a 2002 Lexus was attempting to make a left turn onto westbound Church Hill Road from the dinerâs parking lot, as driver Robert McCulloch, 32, of Bridge End Farm Lane was driving a 1998 International flatbed truck owned by Newtown Tree Service eastward on Church Hill Road, police said.
The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Galda for failure to grant the right of way.
Pearl Street
A one-vehicle accident occurred near 1 Pearl Street about 5:50 pm December 5. Pearl Street links Washington Avenue to Philo Curtis Road in Sandy Hook.
Motorist Sandra Schill, 42, of 23 Gelding Hill Road was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer SUV eastward on Pearl Street, when a deer ran out onto the road and collided with the auto, after which the deer ran off into the woods, police said.
Schill was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Honda Vs Acura
Motorist Muhammad Dipabuana, 28, of West Haven, who was driving a 1996 Acura coupe, was waiting on westbound Mt Pleasant Road to make a left turn into the driveway at 119 Mt Pleasant Road at about 5:19 pm December 6, when westbound motorist Emma Rohde, 81, of Fairchild Drive, who was driving a 2006 Honda sedan, struck the rear end of the Acura, police said.
Rohde reported minor pain but refused medical treatment, police said. Dipabuana said he was not injured, according to police. Police issued Rohde an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Wrecker Mishap
About noon on December 7, wrecker operator Lynell Myers, 39, of Waterbury, who was running a flatbed wrecker, was retrieving a disabled 1997 Hyundai Tiburon coupe from the parking lot at 43 Main Street, police said.
As the Hyundai was being secured to the wrecker, the Hyundai became unfastened and rolled off the back of the wrecker, crashing onto the ground with its front end hitting the pavement, police said. The Hyundai was unoccupied at the time. There were no injuries.
Myers then reloaded the auto onto the wrecker and hauled it away, police said. The Hyundai is owned by a Naugatuck resident.

Stone Wall Struck
Police report that sometime between 7:30 and 11:45 pm on December 6, an unknown blue vehicle collided with a stone wall in front of a home at 43 Castle Meadow Road and then drove away. Castle Meadow Road links Hattertown Road to Brushy Hill Road. Police ask anyone with information on the identity of the offending driver to call them at their tip line at 270-8888.
Off The Road
About 8:50 am December 7, motorist Michele Casson, 52, of 51 Pine Tree Hill Road, who was driving a 2003 Kia Sedona northward near 17 Pine Tree Hill Road, lost control of the minivan, went off the right side of the street and struck a rock, police said. Casson was not injured. Police verbally warned Casson for traveling too fast for conditions.
South Main Street
Motorist Tracy Boehn, 44, of Trumbull was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander northward on South Main Street about 5 pm December 2, when a deer ran out onto the road and struck the vehicle, police report. The deer then ran off. Boehn was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Nissan Vs Pole
Motorist Carmine Rinaldi, 28, of Milford was driving a 1997 Nissan Maxima on a driveway at Garner Correctional Institution about 2:51 am December 7, when while attempting to slow down on a curve, the vehicle lost traction on the icy pavement and struck a lightpost and a drainage catch basin, state police said. Rinaldi was not injured.
Highway Collision
State police report a two-vehicle accident about 6 am December 5 on westbound Interstate 84, near Exit 10.
Motorist John Trentacosta, 28, of 34 Yogananda Street, who was driving a 2006 Subaru Impreza, was moving from the highwayâs right lane to its center lane when the Subaru struck the rear end of a 1991 Chrysler LeBaron driven by Linda Day, 57, of 149 Lakeview Terrace, state police said.
There were no injuries. The collision caused major damage to both vehicles, state police said. Trentacosta failed to maintain the established lane, according to state police.
Chevrolet Van
Motorist William Valencia, 45, of Bridgeport was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Express van northward on South Main Street about 6 pm December 5, when a deer ran out in front of the vehicle, resulting in a collision, police report. The deer ran off after the impact. Valencia was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Intersection Crash
Police report an accident at the hazardous four-way intersection of Washington Avenue, Church Hill Road, Glen Road, and Riverside Road about 2 pm December 9.
Motorist Victoria Pinto, 18, of 57 Tomahawk Trail, who was driving a 2002 Kia Sportage northward on Washington Avenue, attempted to make a left turn onto westbound Church Hill Road, police said.
At that time, motorist Hermila Frutos, 43, of 11 Housatonic Drive was driving a 2002 Honda Accord southward on Glen Road, police said.
As the Kia was making the left turn at the intersection, the Kia cut in front of the approaching Honda, resulting in a collision, police said.
There were no injuries. Pinto received a written warning for making a restricted turn, police said.
Honda Accident
About 2:30 am December 6, motorist Theresa Viesto, 17, of 20 Greenbriar Lane, who was driving a 2005 Honda Accord sedan eastward on Surrey Trail, turned right onto southbound Toddy Hill Road, police said.
The vehicle then went off the roadâs right shoulder and struck some guard cabling, police said. Viesto was not injured. Police said they issued her an infraction for making a restricted turn.
Pontiac Vs Pole
In snowy conditions, motorist James Morrissey, 21, of 29 Platts Hill Road, who was driving a 2004 Pontiac sedan, was heading westward on Cedar Hill Road and then attempted to stop at a stop sign at that roadâs intersection with Brushy Hill Road about 11:24 pm December 6, police said.
But the Pontiac slid on the snow-covered Brushy Hill Road and went off the road shoulder, striking a utility pole, becoming lodged between the pole and an adjacent guy wire, police said.
Morrissey was not injured. Police verbally warned him for traveling too fast for conditions.
Great Ring Road
Police said motorist John Hastedt, 52, of 11 Sand Hill Road, who was driving a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup truck northward near 87 Great Ring Road about 8 pm December 5, lost control of the vehicle, went off the right road shoulder and then came to rest atop a rock.
Hastedt was not injured. Police said they issued Hastedt an infraction ticket for creating unnecessary noise due to spinning tires.
Three Vehicles
Police report a three-vehicle accident on Church Hill Road near its intersection with The Boulevard about 7 pm December 9.
Motorist Sharon Matthews, 47, of Danbury was driving a 2000 Dodge Durango SUV westward on Church Hill Road, when she crossed into the opposite lane and collided with eastbound motorist Susan Garvey, 45, of 35 Swamp Road, who was driving a 2001 Jeep Cherokee, police said.
The Dodge then continued onward and collided with an eastbound 2008 Volkswagen Passat sedan driven by Mary Feola, 49, of 6 Glenmor Drive, police said.
Ambulance volunteers and Newtown Hook & Ladder firefighters responded to the accident. Matthews was treated and released from Danbury Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said. Police said the accident is under investigation.
Mt Pleasant
Motorist Kimberly Calbo, 42, of 21 Valley View Road was driving a 2000 Toyota Sienna minivan carrying four passengers eastward near 29 Mt Pleasant Road about 5:20 pm December 9, when a deer ran out onto the road and collided with the vehicle, police said. There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.
Stone Wall
Motorist Barry Smith, Jr, 16, of 13 Knollwood Drive was driving a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta sedan carrying two passengers westward on Mt Nebo Road about 4:15 am December 6, when the vehicle went through a stop sign at Mt Neboâs Road intersection with Boggs Hill Road, police said.
The auto then crossed Boggs Hill Road and struck a stone wall. There were no injuries. Police issued Smith an infraction for failure to obey a stop sign and for a curfew violation.
Subaru Vs Honda
Motorist Barbara Kelchner, 79, of 12 Walnut Tree Hill Road was driving a 1999 Honda Civic coupe eastward near 52 Church Hill Road about 2 pm December 10, when she slowed for traffic conditions, police said.
The Honda was then struck from behind by eastbound motorist Jonathan Savarese, 17, of 3 Martin Street, who was driving a 2005 Subaru Impreza station wagon that was unable to stop on the wet road, police said.
There were no injuries. Savarese received a written warning for following too closely, police said.
