Sock Hop Added To First Night Line-Up

DANBURY — New Year’s Eve revelers planning to attend 12th Annual First Night Danbury should bring dancin’ shoes — or at least a sturdy pair of socks — because there’s a new gig in town. “Turn Back The Clock” Sock Hop, a two-hour-long dance, ahs been added to this year’s jam-packed schedule of events so revelers can boogie in between events.

First Night Danbury celebrates its 12th year of providing alcohol-free entertainment for people of all ages on Sunday, December 31, from 5 pm to midnight. Nearly 7,000 greater Danbury residents annually make the First Night Celebration the success it has become.

The “Turn Back The Clock” Sock Hop will feature “JD the DJ” spinning rock ‘n roll from the ‘50s and ‘60s in the Salvation Army gymnasium, located at the corner of Boughton and Foster Streets, (behind Danbury Police Department), from 8 to 10 pm. Parents and kids alike are welcome to come in from the cold and get their socks dirty on the dance floor. The Danbury High School Key club will sell refreshments to raise money for their philanthropic endeavors.

As usual, admission to all of the First Night events — dozens of them — will be through purchase of a button: $5 for kids and seniors, and $8 for adults before December 31. The price goes up to $7 and $10 respectively on New Years Eve.

For additional information including details on where First Night Danbury buttons are being sold, the CityCenter Danbury office can be contacted at 792-5095.
