Sock Hop Added To First Night Line-Up
DANBURY â New Yearâs Eve revelers planning to attend 12th Annual First Night Danbury should bring dancinâ shoes â or at least a sturdy pair of socks â because thereâs a new gig in town. âTurn Back The Clockâ Sock Hop, a two-hour-long dance, ahs been added to this yearâs jam-packed schedule of events so revelers can boogie in between events.
First Night Danbury celebrates its 12th year of providing alcohol-free entertainment for people of all ages on Sunday, December 31, from 5 pm to midnight. Nearly 7,000 greater Danbury residents annually make the First Night Celebration the success it has become.
The âTurn Back The Clockâ Sock Hop will feature âJD the DJâ spinning rock ân roll from the â50s and â60s in the Salvation Army gymnasium, located at the corner of Boughton and Foster Streets, (behind Danbury Police Department), from 8 to 10 pm. Parents and kids alike are welcome to come in from the cold and get their socks dirty on the dance floor. The Danbury High School Key club will sell refreshments to raise money for their philanthropic endeavors.
As usual, admission to all of the First Night events â dozens of them â will be through purchase of a button: $5 for kids and seniors, and $8 for adults before December 31. The price goes up to $7 and $10 respectively on New Years Eve.
