Occupation: I am the dreaded telemarketer. I work at home for a market research and technology firm in Cambridge, Mass. I graduated from Chatham College in Pittsburgh, Penn., with a degree in history.

How Long in Newtown: I have lived in Newtown since August 10, 1984. Prior to that, I lived in North Carolina for 12 years, eight of them in Rocky Mount. I was born in New Rochelle, N.Y., and grew up in Darien. My motherâs family was from the Stratford/Darien area.
Biggest Change Seen in Town: The biggest change is in the townâs educational facilities, including the renovation of the Middle School, Newtown High School, and the library. Also, like everyone else, thereâs been a big change in the townâs growth.Â
Family: My husband, Charlie, and I will be married for 33 years in January. We have two sons. Ed, 29, is married to Erica and lives in Massachusetts. He is a chef. David, 25, is single, and teaches at Branford High School.
Pets: We have one cat, Zuzu.
Hobbies: I like to sing, and sing with the Newtown Congregational Church choir. Iâm also an on again, off again horseback rider. Right now Iâm off. Iâm also an on again, off again flute player, also now off. I take care of lawns at two houses, one here in Newtown and the other in New Hampshire, but Iâm not a gardener. I do the leaves and things like that. Iâm a fix-it person, do a lot of household repairs, and paint houses. I also walk with a neighbor five days a week. I belong to a bridge club and a gourmet group.
Favorite Books and Authors: I like to read, but donât as much as I would like to. I tend less toward fiction than non-fiction, but like historical fiction.
Favorite TV Show: I donât watch a lot of TV. I watch the news, Jeopardy, and the Antiques Roadshow. I watch PBS a lot.
Organizations: Iâm a member of Newtown Congregational Church, the Newtown Historical Society, the Danbury Museum and Historical Society, and other historical groups. Charlie and I are treasurers of the CROP Walk. I am secretary of the Cornerstone Committee, and drive for Meals on Wheels. Iâm also active with Dorothy Day in Danbury, and try to go a few times a year. I also volunteer in the guidance office at Newtown High School.
Most Vivid Memory of Newtown: When I first came back to Connecticut, the fall of 1984 had the most spectacular colors. I remember coming out of the Congregational Church and looking out over the hills that were so gorgeous.
Favorite Vacation Spot: New Hampshire, to which I go as much as possible.
Personal Philosophy: I believe in volunteering. You should put your money where your mouth is. Iâve volunteered with Mark Dennenâs Knights of Columbus, painting a house. I believe we all have to do our part in helping others and making things happen.
