Former Newtown Resident Offering ‘New England Legends: A Creepy Christmas Special’ Zoom Specials
ROXBURY — Minor Memorial Library announces the return of Jeff Belanger, who will present “New England Legends: Creepy Christmas Special” on Monday, December 14. The program will be hosted on Zoom and will begin at 7 pm.
There is no charge for this program, but registration is required. Visit minormemoriallibrary.org to register and receive the Zoom link.
Why is there a line in the song “It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” that says, “There’ll be scary ghost stories and tales of the glories of Christmases long long ago”? The tradition of scary stories during the Christmas season has faded. With “Creepy Christmas,” Belanger, a Newtown native, will bring spooky back to the yuletide season.
From the origins of the holiday to monsters like Krampus, the Belsnickel, and Gryla to the ghosts that lurk in the (red and green) shadows, Belanger will take viewers on a multimedia journey of a holiday that once was quite haunting indeed.
Parents should note this program is NOT suitable for young children.
A natural storyteller, Belanger is the award-winning, Emmy-nominated host, writer, and producer of New England Legends on PBS and Amazon Prime, and the author of more than a dozen books published in six languages.
He also hosts the New England Legends weekly podcast, which has garnered more than 2 million downloads since it was launched.
