To The Editor:

The Newtown Choral Society played to a capacity crowd last Saturday when we presented our holiday concert at the Meeting House, A Child’s Christmas in Wales, a cantata by Matthew Harris.

Our director, Mary Andreotta, led us in singing our main piece, as well as holiday songs from Hollywood and Broadway. To that she added traditional songs.

As always, our accompanist, Susan Anthony-Klein, supported us with her exhilarating concert performance.

We were delighted to welcome back John Sullivan as soloist in the Dylan Thomas piece and thank Jennie Anthony Bogue, our page turner.

We thank Charles Zukowski for recording our performance. We thank Chuck Margoulas, Dick Zang, Jack Tanner, Jeff Jackson, Jeff Dvorin, Clive Beddoe-Stephens, Kenneth Lerman, Bill Turner, and Lee Field for transporting our equipment; ticket takers Hilary and Ava Vojtek; and specifically, Nancy Dvorin for creating and supporting our social media and for her editorial support; and Peg Heetmann, our long time treasurer.

We thank The Newtown Bee for its invaluable support in publicizing our concert.

And we thank Andrea von Amelunxen and Peter Andrew for hosting our after concert party at their gracious home.

Finally, we must thank my husband, Kenneth, for his computer expertise, his patience, and his muscle.

The Newtown Choral Society, entering its 33rd year, will begin rehearsals for its spring concert in January. We welcome new members from all area towns and have openings in all voices. Our soloists come from our membership.

If it is your time to raise your voice in song in a supportive environment, visit newtownchoral.org/access, call 203-426-3769, or e-mail lel-choir2@se-ltd.com about joining the Newtown Choral Society. We perform two concerts a year and practice Wednesday evenings at the Newtown Middle School.

We support ourselves through dues, ticket sales, and program ads.
