Lois “Lou” (Miller) Pelosi, 77, formerly of Wolcott, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, December 9 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph M. Pelosi, Sr. She was born July 23, 1938, in Waterbury, and was the daughter of the late Marion (Dyson) and Francis Miller.

Her daughter Kathryn C. Masotta, and her husband Harold Morrison, of Sandy Hook; sons Joseph M. Pelosi, Jr, and his wife Tracy, of Wolcott, Mark Pelosi, and his longtime companion Sherry Cassidy, of Waterbury, and James Pelosi, and his wife Meridith, of Thomaston; her grandchildren, Bonnie Masotta, Britany Giacolone, Nicole, Morgan, Amber, and Robert Pelosi, Tyler Levesque, and Pauly Pinto; three great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Angela Smith, and her husband Louis; the Wolfe family of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews survive Mrs Pelosi.  In addition to her husband of 53 years, her son, Robert J. Pelosi; and Michael Wolfe, whom she considered her son, predeceased her.

She was a graduate of Leavenworth High School and attended Post College where she studied art. Even though she was challenged by being colorblind, she was a serious artist. She loved pastels, and pen and ink for drawing, but her true talent was knitting and crocheting, which she did with speed and accuracy, usually while multitasking other projects.

She loved animals, and sitting on her deck feeding the birds. She also enjoyed camping and taking care of her plants.  She was the hostess of all the family gatherings and spending time with family and friends brought her true joy. She was a funny lady even without trying. She was a wonderful person, who never spoke a bad word about anyone and welcomed everyone into her home. She was loved and will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Mrs Pelosi was a devout Catholic and was a lifetime parishioner of S.S. Peter and Paul Church.

The funeral will take place Monday, December 14, at 9:30 am, from Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow Street, Waterbury, to S.S. Peter and Paul Church for a Mass at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home, Sunday, December 13, from 2 to 5 pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 2911 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden CT 06518.
