Evelyn M. Stange
Evelyn M. Stange, 85, of Bethel died peacefully December 8, after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Edna and Raymond Menegay, born April 30,1930, in Jamaica, N.Y.
Her loving husband of 64 years, Robert Stange; and her children, Mark Stange of Newtown, and Douglas and Julie; daughters in-law Donna Stange and Joanne McInerney Stange; and her adored grandchildren, Lily and Izzy, survive her. Her brothers Raymond and Robert Menegay predeceased Mrs Stange.
She graduated from Long Island A & T in 1950 with a degree in advertising art, and worked in the field until starting a family. Through her life her artistic talent was much admired. She shared her love of the photography, painting, crafts, and gardening. She enjoyed the theater, playing basketball, traveling, swimming, skiing, and fly-fishing.
Mrs Stange often expressed that she had a wonderful life. She enjoyed her home of 63 years, surrounded by family, gardens, and pets. She was proud to raise and train more than a dozen puppies for Guiding Eyes for the Blind, and care for her beloved horse, Happy.
She was an active member in the First Congregational Church of Bethel for 63 years. She taught Sunday School, and served on many boards and committees. She will be remembered for her dedication to service and her creativity.
Services will be private.
