Responding To The Call
Responding To The Call
To the Editor:
The Faith Food Pantry volunteers have just now been able to peek out from the many boxes of food received as a result of the Stuff the Fire Truck Food Drive. We have finally completed sorting, stacking, packing, and distributing the tremendous amount of donations and now want to thank our community for their generosity.
Our sincere thanks to Karin Halstead for initiating and organizing this event in which all five volunteer fire companies participate. To think that these amazing men and women donate their time to be the first responders to any emergency in our community and still give even more time to stand outside all day to accept donations for the food pantry. We cannot thank you enough for all that you do.
We received 137 boxes of food, 77 turkeys, 2 hams and over $1,000 in cash and gift cards. For this we thank the entire community for their generosity. This has been an unusual year for the FAITH Food Pantry as the numbers of Newtown residents in need has grown at a rate that we have never witnessed in our 25-year history.
Thanks also to Andreaâs Pastry Shop for their continuing support, to Dunkinâ Donuts for donating coffee, to Eddie Martino at Carminuccioâs for their delicious pizza, to all the Boy Scout Troops for their help in unloading the trucks, to Breanne and Linda Lubinsky for their ongoing involvement and lastly to our wonderful FAITH volunteers who make the mission to feed our Newtown neighbors possible.
Sincerely,
Nancy Taylor
