*Newtown musician and instructor JOE PROC is known for his solo acoustic shows in the area along with shows as part of the trip Off The Hook, but this weekend he will be bringing his latest project back to Proud Mary’s.

The lounge at The Inn at Newtown, Joe tells me, has already offered a great reception to Joe and the student musicians from Newtown High School who have embarked on something they call DA (WIPED OUT) BOYZ. This “high school meets hippie” band started as Joe and a handful of young men who were enjoying each other’s musical company, performing under the moniker Da Wite Boyz.

Now comes Melanie “MC” Cackowski, a singer-rapper who has added sizzle to the group — and a female presence — and you get the current incarnation of the group, which also includes Mike “McD” McDonald on guitar and vocals and CJ Portalese on guitar and bongos. With Joe adding his own bongo and vocal talents, the group offers acoustic funk, rap and rock and will, as I mentioned, be at Proud Mary’s on Main Street this weekend.

Their show will run from 8 to 9:30 on Friday, December 11. After 9:30 Joe will have the stage to himself, taking over as “Bongo Joe” with background drumming and DJ work for the rest of the evening.

*Also on Friday, fellow local musicians THE DOUG WAHLBERG BAND will be playing at Molly Darcy’s in Danbury. Showtime at 39A Mill Plain Road is 10 pm.

Doug and crew will then be at The Georgetown Saloon for a New Year’s Day show starting at 9 pm.

*One show is going on sale at Mohegan Sun Arena this morning (Friday, December 11) and another two will be going on sale tomorrow.

KID ROCK will bring his latest tour to Uncasville on Friday, February 13, and tickets will be available beginning today at 10 am through TicketMaster, priced at $66 and $86. Tickets will also be available at the casino’s box office beginning tomorrow morning if they don’t sell out before that time.

At 10 am tomorrow, tickets for PHIL LESH & BOB WEIR’s return to Connecticut on Friday, February 26, will be going on sale. This will be similar to the show taking place tonight at the Oakdale in Wallingford, featuring keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, percussionist Jay Lane, drummer Joe Russo and guitarist John Kadlecik, performing music from the catalog of The Grateful Dead. Those tickets are $45 and will be available through TicketMaster for the first 24 hours, and Mohegan Sun as well beginning Sunday morning.

At noon tomorrow, tickets for THE BLACK EYED PEAS, who will bring their E.N.D. World Tour 2010 to Uncasville on Saturday, February 27, will be on sale. Tickets are $85 and $105, and will follow the TicketMaster availability for 24 hours, followed by box office after that.

*Going on sale next weekend will be tickets for NORAH JONES, who will be at The MGM Grand at Foxwoods on March 26. Tickets are $40 to $60 apiece and will be available Friday, December 18, beginning at 9, through MGMatFoxwoods.com, through TicketMaster, and through the casino’s box – call 866-646-0609 or visit it in person.

Until next week, I’ll be seeing you… on the road.
