Many Helped Make Choral Concert A Success

To the Editor:

The Newtown Choral Society played to an enthusiastic crowd as they joined with the Candlewood Children’s Choir to present their holiday concert last Sunday at The Meeting House.

Mary Andreotta, our director, drew on music from the somber side of the holidays by Z. Randall Stroope and added excerpts from the delightful Polar Express to which the children’s choir added its voices. Susan Anthony-Klein, our gifted accompanist, as always, was the foundation under our singing.

We thank the Candlewood Children’s Choir, under the direction of Dan Coffman, for joining us, as well as John McMahon and Delores Allen for their narrative voices. Dan O’Connor added his vibrant voice to “Rockin’ on Top of the World.”

We would also like to thank Nancy Crevier and The Newtown Bee for their continued support.

We thank Jana Emmerthal and her daughter Molly, our now-experienced ticket takers, and Miracle Graphics of Bethel, which contributed tremendously in designing and printing our program. We were able to continue the holiday glow at our after concert get-together at the welcoming and gracious home of Peter, Andrea, and Gregory Andrew. We also thank the members of the choir who moved our musical equipment, as well as Bob Tarullo and Nate Crevier.

Finally, we must thank my husband, Kenneth. As usual, Kenneth lent his computer expertise, his patience, and his muscle wherever it was needed.

The Newtown Choral Society, which is in its 23rd year, will begin rehearsals for its spring concert in January. Under the direction of Mary Andreotta, we are a nonaudition choir and welcome new members from all area towns and have openings in all voices. If it is your time to raise your voice in song in a supportive environment, contact me at 203-426-3769 or lel-choir@se-ltd.com if you would like to discuss joining the Newtown Choral Society. We perform two concerts a year, sing at local events and weddings and practice Wednesday evenings at the Newtown Middle School.
