Paula S. Carroll, 50, previously of Newtown, died December 7 at St Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, with her family at her side, after a long battle with multiple sclerosis (MS). She was born in Basking Ridge, N.J., June 5, 1964, and was the daughter of Roy Schaufelberger of Southbury and the late Gretchen (Smitmens) Schaufelberger.

Ms Carroll attended Newtown schools and graduated from Newtown High School. She graduated from Western Connecticut State University. She also had been a local school bus driver for the S. L. Bennett Transportation Company.

She will be greatly missed by her husband Andrew Carroll of Torrington, her daughter Shannon, and stepdaughters Erica Carroll of Torrington and Rebecca Carroll of Manchester. She also leaves behind two sisters, Lynn Schaufelberger of Indianapolis, Ind., and Ruth Cooper, and her husband Cecil, and their son, Alex, of Fort Worth, Texas.
