How long have you lived in Newtown? We moved to Newtown in February of 2004. I grew up in Pennsylvania, then went to school in Georgia â where I met my wife â and then in 2001 we moved to Danbury when I took a position as piano technician for Fryeâs of Westport and Fairfield Piano. We lived in Southbury for two years before moving here.
What do you like to do in your free time? My son is playing baseball, so Iâve been assistant coach on many of his teams. My wife and I are heavily involved in the music program at Walnut Hill Community Church in Bethel. Iâm conducting the orchestra for this weekendâs Christmas musical. I enjoy doing puzzles with my family and I do enjoy reading.
Do you have a favorite author? C.S. Lewis, for sure. If I had to pick one book by him, it would be Mere Christianity. It explains the Christian faith concisely.
Do you have a favorite vacation destination? The place we go as a family most often is my sisterâs cabin in Pennsylvania, in a little town, in the woods.
What is the best thing about Newtown? Itâs home to me. I like going through town and I see people I know everywhere. Itâs a friendly town. I feel like I know quite a few people and our kids love it.
Who do you most admire? Outside of Jesus Christ, Iâve had several men â including my father â who have been great role models. Clarence Zecheus taught me to be a technician, and he was a wonderful man. I was just out of college and not knowing what I was going to do when I met him. We hit it off. You never know whoâs going to change your life.
Do you have a personal philosophy? âOnly By Grace.â It is only by the grace of God that we can do anything in life. It reminds us to keep it humble.
What makes you laugh? My friends. Just hanging out with them. Or a good movie, like Elf.
