Myrtle Gisner Botsford

Centenarian Was Botsford Fire Company Women’s Auxiliary Member

Myrtle Gisner Botsford, 104, of Newtown, died peacefully, December 7, at her home. Mrs Botsford was the wife of the late Charles W. Botsford, Sr. She was born in Scranton, Penn., March 13, 1906, a daughter of Adah (Lee) and Frederick Gisner.

Mrs Botsford was a resident of Connecticut for more than 95 years. She was a member of the Stepney Baptist Church and the Ladies Aid Society of the church. She was a longtime member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Botsford Fire Company.

Survivors include two sons, Charles W. Botsford, Jr, and Ronald O. Botsford, both of Newtown; six grandchildren; her goddaughter, niece Edna Wissing; and eight great-grandchildren. A son, Orville C. Botsford, predeceased Mrs Botsford.

Funeral services will take place Saturday, December 11, at 11 am, in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Interment will follow in Huntingtown Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 10 to 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ladies Aid, Stepney Baptist Church, 423 Main Street, Monroe CT 06468, or to the charity of one’s choice.
