Active Trumbull Resident

For Many Years

Maryellen Earle Knoernschild, 86, known to all as “Micki,” of Newtown, died December 7. A daughter of Ednah and Tyler Earle, she was born in Rutland, Vt., July 30, 1924.

 Mrs Knoernschild is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Ken, and by her three children, Mark Knoernschild, and Jane Bartosik, of Newtown, Kurt Knoernschild, and his wife Sally Nogg, of Poughquag, N.Y., and Krista Knoernschild, and her husband Mark Murzin, of Bend, Ore. Two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive Mrs Knoernschild. Her sister Barbara and her brother Tyler predeceased her.

She was a graduate of Saint Luke’s School of Nursing in New York City. The Knoernschilds lived in Waterbury for 19 years, where all three of their children were born. Then moving to Trumbull, she was very active in golf, bowling, and bridge. She spent many years on the board of the 18 Hole group of the Tashua Knolls Women’s Golf Association. Mrs Knoernschild was also an active member of the Trumbull Welcome Wagon group and was a member of the Long Hill United Methodist Church.

The family would like to extend special thanks to her devoted friend Sandy Wiener, and to the staffs of Masonicare at Newtown and Masonicare Home Health and Hospice.

A Celebration of Life and sharing of memories will take place Tuesday, December 14, at Lockwood Lodge, 139 Toddy Hill, Newtown, at 2:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, the Trumbull Chapter of Welcome Wagon, or to a charity of one’s choice. 

The Honan Funeral Home, Newtown, assisted the family.
