Kelsey D. Cantore of Sandy Hook, a student at Quinnipiac University, was inducted into the Tau Delta Chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the National Communication Association Honor Society, during a recent ceremony at Quinnipiac. To be inducted, communications students must have a minimum overall grade point average of 3.25 and a minimum communications studies grade point average of 3.25. They must also complete at least 60 credits, three communications courses and achieve junior standing. Founded in 1985, Lambda Pi Eta recognizes, encourages, and rewards outstanding undergraduate scholarship in communication studies.

As announced by Newtown High School this week, students Katie Cummings, Jacob Eventoff, and Katie McMorran have been selected to participate in the 2011 MENC All-Eastern Honors Music Festival, scheduled to be held in Baltimore, Md., at the end of March. The students’ eligibility was based on last year’s All-State audition scores. They will be rehearsing under the baton of nationally recognized conductors and rehearsing with the best high school musicians from the northeast section of the country.
