Jerry Ruopp

Connecticut’s First Certified Master Well Driller

Jerry Ruopp, 59, of New Fairfield, died December 5, with his wife of 37 years, Jean, his children, and golden retriever, Sadie, at his side. He was born December 23, 1950, in LaFayette, Ind., son of Theodore and Lydia (Behrens) Ruopp.

He is survived by his wife; three children, including Kevin Ruopp of Newtown; three siblings, including James Ruopp, and his wife Helga, of Hawleyville; three grandchildren; and many other relatives.

The first Certified Master Well Driller in Connecticut, he was the owner and operator of Sipperly Artesian Well Company, which has been a family-owned business for more than half a century.

His life was centered around his family, work, and a love for making all around him smile. He had a gift for knowledge and enjoyed teaching those willing to listen.

He was a participant on the Fast Feet BMX Team, raced motocross, and enjoyed playing craps at the casino. He was a passionate fan of motor sports and the Danbury Racearena, softball played by his granddaughters, and was the number one fan of the Connecticut Spokebenders Wheelchair Basketball Team.

Funeral services were December 8. Cremation will take place at the direction of the family.
