Hanukkah Events At Bânai Israel
SOUTHBURY â Bânai Israel, a Reform congregation, invites the public to its schedule of events for the celebration of Hanukkah.
On Friday, December 10, at 8:45 pm, the annual Hanukkah Shabbat potluck dinner will be held; $5 per person/$10 per family covers the cost of latkes, the traditional fried potato pancakes. The choir Mikala will sing at 7 pm followed by Shabbat prayer service at 7:30 pm. Those attending are asked to bring their own dreidels to spin. RSVP to the Bânai Israel office, 267-3394.
On Saturday, December 11, from 9:15 to 9:45 am, the monthly Saturday Tot Shabbat service will be held. This brief service was created and is led by Rabbi Eric Polokoff for children ages 7 and under and their families. Songs will be led by teenage musician Nathan Basch-Gould of Newtown. The service will be followed by a Kiddush with traditional Hanukkah deep-fried donuts.
On Sunday, December 12, from 10:30 to 1:30 am, the religious school will stage a musical, artistic, and dramatic program featuring the talents of the more than 100 students in kindergarten through grade seven. There also will be lighting of the Hanukkah menorah and reciting the blessings. Hanukkah cookies and donuts will be served. For more information, call the religious school at 267-3396.
All of Bânai Israelâs regular services and Hanukkah events take place at the Walzer Family Campus, 444 Main Street North.
