Potters’ Exhibit In Artisans’ Municipal Center Showcase Through December
The work of The Newtown Potters — Roberta Ahuja, Vickie Foy, Ros Liljengren, and Karen Pinto — has returned to Newtown Municipal Center for their annual exhibit in the Center’s showcase. The Municipal Center is open weekdays between 8 am and 4:30 pm, and evenings when Town board and commission meetings are scheduled.
The Potters’ work will be in the showcase through the end of December and is available for purchase.
The exhibit ranges from the purely fantastical to the very utilitarian mixing spoons and mugs. Whales and even lobsters adorn bowls and are also standalone sculptures. This year the group has added ceramic encased mirrors and teapots.
Pinto and Liljengren are well known to Newtown as part of the Clay Date Potters, who ran one of the most successful workshops for HealingNewtown, an arts center that was created in response to 12/14.
Vickie Foy, along with being a potter, is a well-regarded scientist at Unilever research and development facility.
Roberta Ahuja’s work reflects her style and embellishments.
The Municipal Center Art Gallery is managed and curated by Newtown Cultural Arts Commission and its chairman, Laura E. Lerman. The gallery and the showcase are available to artists and artisans from all over. Contact Lerman at lel@se-ltd.com to discuss exhibiting at the gallery or the showcase.
