Snapshot: Nicole Nicholson
Occupation: I work at the Newtown Senior Center, and I am a Senior Services Assistant. I work the front desk, and I am the first face they see every day! I get to meet and talk to all of the seniors at the center and meet all of the great speakers and guests.
Family: I live with my husband Ronald, whom I have been happily married to for seven blissful years; my lovely daughter Molly; my wonderful, caring sons Camden and Zarek; and my stepdaughters Bridget and Avery.
Pets: I have a black lab named Olive who is 7 years old and is so adorable and loves everybody. I have an old girl named Zippy. Don’t let the name fool you, she is 17! I also have two cats who are brothers, Ash and Zeus. Let’s not forget about my six chickens!
How long have you lived in Newtown: I have lived in Newtown my entire life. Wouldn’t change it for the world.
What do you do in your free time: I love to go shopping, and I love to cook. You can find me in the kitchen all day on Sunday!
Who is the greatest influence in your life? My husband influences my life in the most positive way. He makes me laugh, helps me cook, lifts me up, and always makes me smile!
If you could spend the day with one person who would it be and why? Guy Fieri. I would love to spend the day preparing a great exciting meal with him and having the best day ever.
Who is your favorite musical artist? Pink, hands down!
What is the greatest piece of advice that you have ever gotten? My former part-time employer encouraged me to apply for the full-time position at the Newtown Senior Center! A full-time job that I love so much!
What can you not live without? I feel like I could not live without my family.
What is your greatest accomplishment? My greatest accomplishment is learning to move forward from my past and always growing to be a better and stronger person.
What is a meal or recipe that your family has passed down to you? German Sauerbraten!
What is a tradition in your family that has importance to you? Pickle on the Christmas tree! We hide the ornament and then whoever finds it first gets an extra gift.
What would you like for The Newtown Bee to cover more? More stories about the amazing Senior Center!
What is your favorite food? I love anything Italian. From the best pasta dishes to a great pizza, and lasagna, I can’t get enough!
What is your favorite TV show? I can watch every episode of Chopped. I enjoy figuring out what I would concoct from the mystery boxes.
Where would you like to travel to in the future? I would love to visit Germany and Ireland to trace back my family heritage. I would so enjoy seeing those countries and eating true German and Irish cuisine. I wouldn’t mind visiting Fiji either. Fiji looks amazing!
