The Newtown Interfaith Association has announced its plans for a Community Interfaith Prayer Vigil on the fourth anniversary of 12/14.Additional Offerings

Trinity Episcopal Church, at 36 Main Street, will host this year's interfaith gathering on Wednesday, December 14.

From 5 to 7 pm, a simple meal will be served. Comfort dogs will be on site, community art, outreach projects, and fellowship will be offered in the Johnson Room, on the lower level of the church.

An interfaith prayer service in the sanctuary will take place from 7 to 8 pm.

A special candle-lit professionally led session of Yoga Nidra Meditation will then take place from 8 to 9 pm in the church's Johnson Room.

In addition, Trinity Church be open from 8 am until 9 pm for personal prayer. The public is welcome to visit the sanctuary at any time during these hours.

All are welcome to attend for as little or as much as they need, according to the association.

The Newtown Interfaith Association is represented by members of Al Hedaya Islamic Center, Baha'i Community of Newtown, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints-Newtown, Congregation Adath Israel, The Lutheran Home of Southbury, Newtown Christian Church, Newtown Congregational Church UCC, Newtown United Methodist Church, St Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, and Trinity Episcopal Church.

Newtown Congregational Church, at 14 West Street, will offer opportunities for remembrance, support and reflection on the fourth anniversary of 12/14.

At 9 am, a Service of Remembrance and Support will be held in the church sanctuary with music, silence, and prayer.

According to the Reverend Matthew Crebbin, senior pastor of NCC, a quiet Prayer and Remembrance space will be set up in the church library, with artwork and others displays of grief, compassion, and care from around the world.

The library is accessible from the lower entry of the church. Guests may come and go as they desire. Newtown Congregational Church staff will be available throughout the day to provide prayer, support, and conversation.

Newtown United Methodist Church, at 92 Church Hill Road, will have its sanctuary open from 9 am to 5 pm for quiet reflection.

St Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, at 46 Church Hill Road, will offer a special Mass at 7:30 Wednesday evening. The sanctuary will also be open, as it generally is, during the day.

While it will not be presenting a special service, Faith At Newtown will be "taking time during our worship service on December 11" to remember that day, Pastor Tim Kuhn said this week.
