Monica Heloise Rose, 92, Sandy Hook, died November 28, in the company of loved ones in her home. She was the wife of the late Frank Rose. Born on a farm in Johnstown, N.Y., December 10, 1918, she developed a spirit of self-determination and a lifelong love of horses.
She spent much of her adult life in New York City working in retail, and riding horses in Central Park. She opened her own lingerie shop in the 1960s under the name of âMonique,â where she took pride in developing custom-fitted undergarments. While she always considered Manhattan her home, she loved traveling and visited Europe and Latin America.
She married Frank Rose in 1973 and together they continued to travel, enjoying cruises to the Caribbean Islands. In 1993, Mrs Rose inherited the home of her sister, Emeroy Field, in Sandy Hook, where she lived until she died. She was a good friend of Bill W.
Mrs Rose is survived by her devoted friends and her adopted family.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation will take place at the convenience of the family.
