Monstrosity 34, Space Narwhals 16: Carly Swierbut led all scorers with 12 points while Jenna Carvlho corralled 6 rebounds to lead a strong team effort by the winning Monstrosity team. Katie McCabe played gritty defense and Danny Otero had a fine all-around game rebounding and scoring. For the Narwhals, Cory Mangold led the team in scoring with 8 points followed by Vanessa Tucker with 4. Teresa Forlenzo did a good job of freeing up her teammates with some strong picks. The Narwhals made a valiant run at the end of the game but ended up running out of time.
Raymond James Financial/Shock 23, Dr Della Schmid Chiropractic Centre/Sunburst 13: Sarah Dowling led all scorers with 7 points, but it wasnât enough to overcome the balanced attack of the Shock, led by Abigail Pearson and Rebecca Gavel who each contributed 6 points. Defensively both teams gave maximum effort, particularly by Jackie Gouvera, Grace Pettinelli, and Maddie Brock for the Sunburst and Jordan Williams and Julia Clarke for the Shock. It was a hard-fought game between two strong teams.
Shooting Stars 16, Tasmanian Devils 10: Caroline Condon of the Shooting Stars paced all scorers with 8 points in the winning effort, while Ava Petrellese and Chrissy Sgobbo led the Tasmanian Devils with 4 points each. The Stars took control early with some strong ball handling and were able to get some quick baskets. The game was close through the first half when Larkin Huffman, Greta Staubly and Condon each scored for the Stars to open up a lead in the third quarter. Strong defense by Brianna Lovely kept the T-Devils from responding. Good defense from Marit Lyon, Ally Tassiello, and Nathalie Schickendantz kept the game within striking distance and continued hustle in the fourth quarter by Jackie Moccio and Ava Pettrellese allowed the T-Devils to cut into the lead, but it wasnât enough.
Hip Hoopsters 24, Inspirations For Your Home, LLC/Fighting Irish 16: Dylan Zahansky, of the Fighting Irish led all scorers with 12 points but it wasnât enough to overcome the balanced scoring by the Hip Hoopsters. The Hoopsters were led in scoring by Madison Findley and Elizabeth Weisgerber with 6 points each. The Hoopsters played strong defense with Camryn Findley getting 6 steals and Weisgerber collecting 5 rebounds. The Irish gave the Hoopsters all they wanted and showed great energy on both end of the floor. They exhibited some great teamwork as Alex Futterman came up with a steal, passed ahead to Casey McClean, who got the assist as she passed to Lucy Draper for the score.
Grade 7
Scarsdale 37,Newtown 20: Newtown lost its opening game of the Joe Coppo Tip-Off Tournament in New Canaan. Nikki Zaccaro led the way with 7 points, followed by Hailey Conrad with 6. Natalie Shaker pulled down 8 rebounds and Jillian Pieretti 7. Jess Maturo (3 points) had 4 steals and 3 rebounds.
New Castle 30, Newtown 24: Newtown held a 6 point half-time lead over eventual tourney champion New Castle, but could not sustain the effort in the second half. Zaccaro scored 9 points and Meghan Doyle 4. Zaccaro had 11 boards and Pieretti 9. Conrad had 8 steals and Colleen McCarthy 4. Bella Luciano added a basket and 2 rebounds.
Wilton 20, Newtown 18: Tied 9-9 after three quarters, Wilton jumped out to an 8- point lead early in the fourth and then held off a strong Newtown comeback. Zaccaro and Pieretti each scored 5 points, with Pieretti connecting on her first career 3-pointer. Conrad (3 blocks) corralled 9 rebounds, and McCarthy 6. Maturo had 6 thefts. Cassidy Datin had 4 rebounds and a steal.
Newtown 24, Darien 15: Newtown bounced back to win its final game of the tournament. Doyle (2 blocks) and Zaccaro (4 assists) scored 8 apiece. Zaccaro had 10 rebounds, followed by Shaker and Pieretti with 9 each. Datin had a basket and 4 rebounds, while Luciano scored 2 points and had 2 steals.
Grades 7 & 8
South Cove Globetrotters 23, Style 18: The South Cove Globetrotters were led to victory by Jess Shairerâs 10 points and the defensive play of Caroline Caporale. Brittney Antous chipped in 4 points and 4 assists while Chrissy Moore pulled down 5 rebounds. Rachel Williams led The Style offense with 10 points and Nicole Russo provided the speed on defense, continually shutting down the Globetrotterâs fast break. Annie Hoffman grabbed 4 rebounds to lead the team.
Celtics 23, CTS Micro Flintstones 16: Michaela Jackman led The Celtics to victory with 9 points and 6 rebounds. Diana Kirkman and Kayla Kordish each chipped in 4 points, while Alexis Tucker played outstanding defense. The Flintstonesâ offense was provided by Sam Lotko and Katie Laaksonen, who each scored 4 points. Muriel Daccache handed out 4 assists and Anna Buzzanca was the defensive star, swiping 3 steals. Jaimy Fellin provided the rebounding support by grabbing 5 boards.
E-Lemonaders 30, One-Eyed Pig Da Bears 24: The E-Lemonaders defeated Da Bears 30-24 in an exciting contest. The E-Lemonaders were led by the scoring of Ami Talbot (10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals) and Shannon Lynch (6 points, 2 steals, 2 rebounds) and an overall swarming defense with big blocks from Abbie Kohler (2 points, 6 rebounds, 4 blocks, 2 steals), and Ashley Lynch (2 points, 3 blocks, 4 rebounds); Steals from Erin Tressler (4 points, 3 steals), Julia Scarangella (2 points, 2 steals, 2 rebounds). Amanda Albanese (4 points, 2 steals, 4 rebounds), Hannah Luby (3 rebound, 1 steal) and Erin Mingey (3 rebounds, 2 steals) trapped Da Bears ball handlers all over the court. Da Bears had a well balanced scoring attack, led by Sarah Benderâs 5 points and 4 points apiece by Maddy Bridges, Madilyn Cole, Lindsay Hoyt, and Chelsea Piccirillo. Lindsay Hoyt also chipped in 6 assists and Megan Kelleher was the defensive star with 4 steals.
The Blitz 19, World Wide Coverage Corporation Spartans 17: Maddy Pirone went on a scoring spree in the third quarter, scoring 8 points to lead The Blitz to victory. Madeline Marlin and Jess Mullany added 4 points apiece and Emily Montoya provided the spark on the glass, grabbing 8 rebounds. Lauren King played solid defense with 3 steals. Kayla DiSibio scored 8 points for The Spartans and Emma Horne chipped in 3 points and four steals. Julia Wiberg was dominant on the glass, hauling in 9 rebounds.

Grade 3
Milford Huskies 19, Mavs 15: CJ Demers was at point guard and had a good handle all day long. Luke Hannan, Trevor Barrett, Nick Fisher, Neal Kalra, Trevor Jacozzi, Michael Haddick, Steven Cotton, and Karl Miller all played well for the Mavs.
Grade 4
Mavs Blue 35, St Theresa 6: Nick Kalra scored 10 points for the Mavs, while Joey Rios, Keenan Murphy, and Josh Taylor combined for an additional 19 in the win over St Theresa. Liam Murphy and Zach Droukas were quick on the steals and sharp on the assists, while Dillon Robinson, Drew Mitchell. and Kieran Coffey kept the defensive pressure on throughout the game to secure the teamâs second win of the season.
Easton 27, Mavs Blue 20: Joey Rios and Nick Kalra combined for 16 points. Josh Taylor and Keenan Murphy were strong on the rebounds, while Kieran Coffey, Drew Mitchell, Zach Droukas, Dillon Robinson, and Liam Murphy led the defense.
Grade Four Mavs White 38, Grade Three Mavs 16: Jack Mulligan and Kyle Good combined for 20 rebounds and 14 points in the Mavsâ second win of the season. The team was led by strong all-around efforts from Jack Kuligowski, Sam Eppers, and Kyle Sullivan at point guard. Jack Lydon, Patrick Oberstadt, Max Wrage, and Charlie Eppers played tough defense and combined for 10 points.
For the third graders, Luke Hannan, Steven Cotton, Nick Fischer, and Karl Miller played well defensively. CJ Demers ran a very effective point guard with crisp crossovers and clever penetration through the zone defense. Trevor Barrett sparked the younger Mavs early in the second half with great ball handling and a sharp shooting hand. Barrett made 5 of his 10 field goals for 10 points in the second half. Nick Fisher, Neil Kalra, and Karl Miller played some feisty defense, creating turnovers which Barrett happily converted to points. T.J. OâConnell played big down low against the bigger team with some crisp moves to the basket. Michael Haddick, Trevor Jaccozzi, and Luke Hannan had the task of playing the fourth grade post players and did a solid job limiting them in the second half.
Mavs Blue 37, Amity 18: Joey Rios scored 11 points for the Mavs, while Nick Kalra, Josh Taylor, and Dillon Robinson combined for an additional 16 points in the win over Amity. Josh Taylor and Keenan Murphy controlled the boards with 15 rebounds. Liam Murphy and Zach Droukas led the way with strong assists. Kieran Coffey and Drew Mitchell kept the pressure on with strong defense.
Mavs White 14, Easton 11: In a tough defensive battle, the Mavs scored the final 5 points of the game for a dramatic come-from-behind victory over Easton. The boys played their best defensive game of the year, in a total team effort to remain undefeated and bring their record to 3-0.

Newtown 46, Southbury 23:- The Newtown Blue boys rallied back from an early 8-2 deficit with an intense full court press to defeat Southbury. Newtown used a balanced scoring attack in the victory, with 6-point contributions from Luke Barrett, Robert Disibio, James Doyle, Aidan Moulder, and Bryan Vander Have. Michael Cotton, Jimmy Davies, and Dan Mason also chipped in offensively with 4 points a piece. Solid efforts on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor were also put forth by Griffin Cross, Luke Melillo and Todd Petersen.
Newtown 48, Norwalk 36: The Newtown Blue boys held off a tough Norwalk team on the back of a great second half of play. Newtown held onto a slim 22-19 lead at the break before using a tenacious defensive effort in the third quarter to cruise to a 48-36 win. Todd Petersen and Robert Disibio led all scorers with 14 and 10 points, respectively. Luke Barrett and Michael Cotton also contributed with 6 points each in the win. Solid offensive and defensive efforts were also given by Griffin Cross, Jimmy Davies, James Doyle, Dan Mason, Luke Melillo, and Aidan Moulder.
Newtown Gold Rush 43, Redding Easton Black 15: Shea Talbot scored the first basket of the season for the Gold Rush and finished the game with 7 points. Eric Moore was the high scorer with 12 points, followed by John Albanesi and Shane Demers, who each had 6oints. James Clifford started several fast breaks by stealing the ball from Easton. He finished with 5 steals and 6 points. Brennan Mayer, Riley McCafferty and Danny Schreiber provided strong defense with numerous rebounds and multiple assists. Reed Hammond and Cameron Trivers played strong in the paint and scored 2 and 4 points, respectively.
Brookfield 31, Mavs 11: Ben Futterman, Garrett Norberg, Ryan Burns, Derrick Lewis and Luke Fischer contributed to the defensive efforts throughout the game. Burns was especially effective getting to the rim. Jack Hannan with 6 points and Gavin Connors with 4 points led the second-half efforts. Thomas Luciano also pitched in at the free throw line and had many nice plays along the way.
Adviserstrust.com Knicks 24, Red Devils 11: For the Heat Timmy Davis, Garrett Mandarano, and Nicholas Accousti each chipped in with 4 points. Garrett Norberg had 4 assists, Tucker Garrity had 6 steals and Jonathan Nahmias had 8 rebounds. For the Devils Andreas Nottelman and Will Hampford combined for 7 points. Ayden Kasbarian directed the offense from the point, while Vincent Genovese shone on defense and Karl Kelly had 10 boards.
The Hawks 19, Blue Blazers 14: For the Hawks, Harry Lucas and Thomas Luciano combined for 11 points, while Ben Nowacki had 3 assists, and Harvey Long, 4 steals, led the defense and Sea McCleary had 7 rebounds. For the Blazers, Luke Fischer and Ryan Burns combined for 10 points, while Bryan Ingwersen had 3 assists, Derrick Lewis had 5 steals and Jack Hannan had 8 rebounds
Orangemen 34, Shooting Stars 31: Trevor Tyrrell and Chris Maturo combined for 16 points for the Orangemen. Easton Ricks led the offense with 4 assists, while Nick Capelli had 4 steals to key the defensive effort and Tyler Dickenson had 7 rebounds. The Stars were led by the scoring of Timmy McCarthy and Charlie Asetta who combined for 16 points. Thomas Briscoe had 4 assists, while Alec Budd and Alex Katsuleres led the way on defense.
Hot Shots 38, Advisory Trust.com Doughnuts 24: Back and forth game with many lead changes. Greg Brissette led the Hot Shots with 10 points, while Matt Principi added 8. In total, 8 of the 10 players for the Hot Shots scored, including Sterling Radacsiâs spin-around jump shot that started the Hot Shots comeback in the third quarter. Nate Jones was a defensive force underneath with 4 big blocked shots. Tristan Crone and Brendan OâHara forced both offensive and defensive action with their all-around hustle. For Advisory Trust.com Mark Hall and Aidan Ford were tough on defense and Kyle Gaynor was a strong rebounder. Jimmy Doutney led the Doughnuts scoring with 8 points followed by Aidan Fordâs 6. Danny Grosso, Mark Hall, Nick Harper, Kyle Gaynor, and James Heran finished out the scoring. Teddy Wojcik, Ian Shull, and Josh Harper had great hustle throughout the game
Invaders 34, Buckateers 34: After trailing 16-1 late in the fast half, the invaders started a huge comeback leading them to an exciting overtime finish. Jack Miller (9), Jackson Dooley (9), and Ethan Aug (8) led the scoring for the Invaders. Benjamin Harrison (10 rebounds) and Colin Kelly (5 rebounds, 1 steal) played well on defense. Harry Eppers and Dylan Champagne led the Bucketeers on offense. Eppers was 4 for 6 from the floor with 2 assists including a big one late in the fourth allowing Tommy Fitzgerald to score a crucial easy layup. Champagne also had 5 steals and played a very strong defensive game. Jack Vaughn, Cameron Champagne, Liam Jones, and Sam Parsons finished out the scoring. Jones and Fitzgerald led the Buckateers on the boards.
Monstars 26 , Swishers 24: The Monstars offense was led by Justin Dunn with 12 and Will Stenz with 6. Andrew Buzzi and Ryan Patrick came up big on defense down the stretch. Christian Adam led the Monstars with 8 rebounds. The Swishers were led by great all-around games from Ryan Williams (6 points and 12 rebounds) and Grant Moxham (2 points and 4 rebounds). Timmy Shaw was fantastic at point guard with 6 points and Connor Dinallo played strong defense all game. Wyatt Moyers chipped in with 2 points and 5 rebounds and along with John Payne helped to control the paint.
Black Hawks 32, Thunder 18: The Black Hawks won their first game with balanced offense and solid defense. Robert Murray and Evan Landgrebe each had 8 points. Wally Skrelja, Ben Terry, and Doug Carriero played strong defense. Thomas Skrelja had a great all around game with 6 points, 1 assist, 4 steals and 5 rebounds. For the Thunder, Eugene Citrano led the offense pumping in 10 points. Alex Janiak (4) and Adam Farley, and EJ Santayana (2) each contributed nicely. On the defensive side of the ball, Alex Janiak had 8 boards, Matthew Sadowski 6, while Eugene Citrano had 4 steals. Jack Carello played well inbounding the ball and like the rest of the Thunder squad, hustled the whole game.
Tornadoes 39, Celtics 28: Led by John Finneganâs 14 points, the Tornadoes got balanced scoring from Brian Montoya, Adam Wolff, and Rhett Saunders to top the Celtics. Strong defensive efforts from Michael Garner, Keven Riccardi, and Matthew Lundquist helped the Tornadoes fend off the Celtics. The Tornadoes were strong on the boards all day and got key fourth quarter rebounds from Avi Bhaya and Bobby Ward. The Celtics were led by Cole Demirjian who pumped in 12 points from beyond the paint, and David Daria help contribute 8 points while floating through the lane. Justin Coehlo played well and was all over the court with his great hustle and defense, and had a steal, forced jump ball and multiple rebounds.
Buckateers 32, Sox 23: Cameron Champagne led the Buckateers with 6 points after making 3 of 8 shots. Max Goldstein, Liam Jones, Jack Vaughn, and Harry Eppers chipped in 4 points a piece. Goldstein had an impressive power drive layup that found the bottom of the net. Jones had a big steal late in the game and a breakaway layup to hold off the Sox. Dylan Champagne and Mathew Menousek added a bucket a piece to finish the scoring. Dylan Champagne and Travis Huzina played strong defensively pestering the Sox leading scorer Dylan Sock. David Kohler, Dylan Sock and Christian Lestik led the Sox offense combining for 21 points.
Black Hawks 28, Invaders 21: Black Hawks Thomas Skrelja and Doug Carriero led the offense with 10 and 6 points, respectively, with Wally Skrelja, Zack DeMelio, Ben Terry, and Robert Murray finishing out the scoring. Ricky Mariani and Jermane Anyoha played solid defense. Robert Murray grabbed 12 rebounds and Ben Terry had 8, while Evan Landgrebe had 4 steals. Jack Miller led the offense for the Invaders, sinking 6 field goals and adding 3 points from the charity stripe to finish with 15. Dominic Scalzo made a nice turn-around jump shot and Dino Vogiatzis and Tyler Gaynor played well on both sides of the court.
Grades 7 & 8
Celtics 40, Murphy Basketball Camp Da Bulls 35: The Celtics opened the season with an impressive come-from-behind victory. James Carney and Joe Duero each contributed 14 points, with Jake Courchene netting 8 points. Timmy LeBlanc controlled the point, dishing out 7 assists. James Barryâs had a strong second half, pulling down 6 rebounds. Declan Sullivan kept the level of play high and led the Murphy Basketball Camp Da Bulls with 17 points. At the other end of the court, Chris Anesi skyed high and often and came out as the rebound leader along with pitching in 6 points of his own.
Raymond James Financial Lockouts, Grizzlies (score not reported): The Raymond James Financial Lockouts played a solid game will a well-balanced showing by all players. The Grizzlies offense was led by the sharp shooting of Spencer Johnson who drained multiple 3-point shots in the second half. Kieran Lynch also had an impressive day on offense with both points and assists. Kevin Chernoff was intimidating on defense with his 8 blocked shots and Taylor Koonz played an overall aggressive game.
Big Dogs 51, Alpacas 49: The Big Dogs were down but not out. A come-from-behind victory led offensively by James Accousti with 26 points, Colin Patrick with 12 points, both players set up very nicely with assists from Patrick Godino and Jerl Draper. Defensively Alex Dunleavy and Jack Phelps had 12 steals combined and pounded the boards for 20 rebounds. Extremely aggressive play was turned in by Thomas Stanczyk, Paul Whitaker, William LeMay, and Tyler LaCroce. Owen McInerney paced a balanced Alpaca scoring attack with 16 points. Nick Genovese, Chad Azzarito, and Owen Samson each played strong all around games.
Cushman & Wakefield Fury 48, Thunder 36: Nick Venezia led the Cushman & Wakefield Fury with 14 points, going 7 for 8 from the floor. Devin Luzietti chipped in 9 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and played great on defense with 5 steals. Peter Clifford also played well on defense with 5 steals. Gordon Walsh scored 8 points, including a perfect 2 for 2 from the charity stripe. Colby Olson, Mitchell Long, Tommy Elliott, and Clifford combined for 17 points and 13 rebounds. Thunder kept the game close with strong rebounding by Austin DeSousa, and Evan Cerreta. Good offensive play by Matt Davis, Bryan Kiley, David Usher, and Chris Mok put the game slipped away at the end of the third period when two key players fouled out.
Huskies 60, Cool Runnings 49: Sam Czel led the Huskies offensive attack with 15 points, with Hunter Cobb adding 12. The defense was led by Marcus Wessel clogging up the middle. A strong game by all with everyone scoring. For Cool Runnings, Henry Primavera led the offense with 13 points. Ryan Marron and Ryan Norton played solid defense all game, while Charlie Fletcher grabbed 10 rebounds.
Eyes On the Prize 60, Wolfpack 47: Eyes On the Prize won their opener 60-49, behind strong offensive performances by Steven Moccio (24 points), Sam Duffy (19 points), and Dylan Tyrell (13 points). Elliott Bennett added 3 points and 6 boards, while Hunter Booker, Andrew Robinson, Will Ballard, Robert Lombardo, and Nick Lombardo provided critical contributions rebounding and on the defensive end of the floor. For the Wolfpack, Jimmy Buck and Jack Procaccini combined for 31 points, while Michael Roche and Matthew Fuchs played good defense.
Iovino Brothers Thunderbirds 34, Wolverines 30: The Iovino Brothers Thunderbirds pulled off a furious comeback spurred by their strong rebounding and defense. Brandon Pavlicek cleaned up with 7 rebounds and Tommy Lueci, Cole Siksay, and Austin Dignan each had steals in the fourth quarter that helped the offense get on track. Michael Doyle scored 11 fourth quarter points and finished with 17. The T-Birds went ahead for good as Jeremy Salaris sank both ends of a one-and-one free throw opportunity with 34 seconds to go. RH Clark and Robert Hutchins provided offense with a combined 14 points for the Wolverines. Mathew Ingwersen and Nick Brown stepped up with solid defensive performances.
Raymond James Financial Newtown Celtics 34, CTS Micro Bulldogs 26: The Raymond James Financial Newtown Celtics played a solid game will a well-balanced showing by all players. Nick Bourgeois led the CTS Micro Bulldogs with 22 points. Matt Frazzetta led the team with 12 rebounds. Max Weber, Liam Palilla, and Philip Coffey played aggressive defense to close the scoring gap down the stretch.
