It’s The Superintendent’s Job

To the Editor:

I am writing regarding the hiring of a public relations consultant for the Board of Education. In tight budget times, these funds cannot be spared for such a purpose.

It should be the job of the superintendent to communicate effectively with town residents, both directly and through local newspapers. This is an essential aspect of the superintendent’s job, and previous Newtown superintendents, as well as those in surrounding towns, have always performed this function.
