*There is NOT going to be an open mic session this weekend at Mocha coffee house in Sandy Hook. I erroneously said there would be one in last week’s column. Sorry for the confusion.

Jim Allen says there will be one next weekend, however, so keep working on those original songs and join him on Sunday, December 18. Musicians are invited to sign up any time after 4:30 at the coffee house at 3 Glen Road in Sandy Hook. The music begins at 5.

*Not at all surprisingly, the BILLY JOEL concert in March that went on sale last weekend sold out quickly.

A second show is now available, for Friday, March 10, and tickets will be going on sale this Saturday morning at 10. Tickets are again $41.50 and $77 each, and there won’t be any first-day sales at the civic center’s box office. Go through any TicketMaster vendor on Saturday and Sunday; the box office will reopen on Monday if there are any tickets left to sell at that point.

*Also returning next year (after having just appeared at the same venue) will be BRAD PAISLEY’s Time Well Wasted Tour, featuring Sara Evans and Billy Currington. The tour will return to Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday, February 10.

Tickets, at $40 and $50, will go on sale Saturday, December 10, at 10 am, through TicketMaster. Tickets will be available at Mohegan Sun’s box office beginning Sunday morning.

*EARTH, WIND & FIRE, certainly one of the most influential soul bands of the late 70s, will help The Palace Theater commemorate the first anniversary of its grand reopening with a concert on Friday, December 30.

Tickets for the concert are available, ranging from $46 to $86, and a pre-show gala is in the final stages of planning. Contact the theater for ticket and gala details at 203-755-4700. A full schedule of the Waterbury theater’s events is online at PalaceTheaterCT.org.

*AARON LEWIS, of Staind fame, has a series of five shows set up at Mohegan Sun Cabaret later this month. Lewis will be doing solo acoustic shows in Uncasville nightly from Wednesday, December 28, until Sunday, January 1. Tickets for most nights are $65, although the New Year’s Eve tickets are $85.

*KID ROCK, who played Mohegan Sun Arena last year, will return early next year. Tickets for his Friday, January 20, concert will be going on sale Saturday morning at 10 through TicketMaster vendors. Tickets for all seats are $39.

Tickets will be available at Mohegan Sun’s box office beginning on Sunday, subject to availability.

*Also new this week are a few additions to The Webster’s calendar: BOB MARLEY’S THE WAILERS will be in Hartford on Saturday, January 7 (tickets $18), and THE CLICK FIVE will be in town the following evening.

Both of these shows will be going on sale Saturday morning. Contact The Webster’s box office at 860-525-5553 or visit tickets.com.

*Connecticut band SIRIUS COYOTE will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a special performance on Saturday, December 17, at NOMA Gallery in Middletown (648 Main Street; telephone 860-344-0768).

From 6:30 until 10:30 pm there will be live music, dancing and refreshments, all amid the gallery’s holiday arts and crafts show. Admission is a $5 donation at the door.

Call the gallery for information about the band’s new monthly music series at NOMA.

Until next week I’ll be seeing you... on the road.

Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks c/o The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown CT 06470, or shannon@thebee.com, or call the office at 426-3141. Shows listed at club locations are for ages 21 and over unless specified.
