Phillips And McIntosh

Join United Way Board

DANBURY — Two Newtown residents, Barbara Phillips and Ralph McIntosh, joined the board of directors of the United Way of Northern Fairfield County on December 1.

Ralph McIntosh is president of Del-Tron Precision in Bethel. He was previously chairman of the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the boards of Savings Bank of Danbury, Danbury Hospital Development Fund, Immaculate High School Advisory Board, and Danbury War Memorial. He has acted as co-chairman of the Danbury Hospital Cancer Golf Tournament, race director of the 98Q CityCenter 10K Road Race, chairman of the Delton Richter Park Pro AM Golf Tournament, president of Ridgewood Country Club, and 2003 chairman of the Good Scout Award Luncheon.

Barbara J. Phillips is principal and founder of Phillips Associates, an organization and management group based in Connecticut. An active civic volunteer, Ms Phillips wrote the first statewide grant in 1980 for birth-to-three programs, which resulted in enhanced resources and services to handicapped children. She has served on the boards of the Ives Center for the Arts in Danbury, Women of Professional and Personal Development, and the Family Life Center in Newtown.

She is currently vice president of the Danbury Regional Child Advocacy Center and also a director and chairperson of the Human Resources Committee of the board of Ability Beyond Disability. Her community efforts have been recognized with several awards, including the prestigious People’s Bank Samuel W. Hawley Public Service Award and appointment to the Governor’s Connecticut Rehabilitation Council. She is married to Arthur Phillips, a retired Danbury endodontist. They have three grown children and six grandchildren.

The United Way of Northern Fairfield County is a nonprofit organization that serves seven area towns by mobilizing agencies, businesses, volunteers, and financial resources to provide long-term solutions to problems in the communities. Two Newtown agency partners are the Family Counseling Center and Newtown Youth Services.
