Benefit Concert A Success

To the Editor:

To the many people who attended, participated in, and contributed to the New Orleans Night of Jazz Hurricane Benefit Concert on November 21, thank you.

The Newtown Middle School Jazz Band, NHS Jazz Combo, Judson Jazz, and Christopher Lee provided energizing, exciting music. Delicious desserts were prepared and served by Brian Neumeyer and the NHS Culinary students. We would like to thank middle school custodians Don Roos and Kevin Anzelloti for donating their time to help the committee set up the RIS cafetorium. Kurt Ryder and Newtown Graphics printed tickets and posters and Susan Coney (Newtown Bee) and Sybil Blau (The News-Times) did a great job publicizing this event. Newtown Middle School students served as ushers. Ticket sales, donations, and sponsorship from Newtown Savings Bank, Raymond Sprague, Dr Henry Gellert, Rotary Club of Newtown, Lions Club of Newtown, Pinnacle Group, Newtown Exxon, Big Y, Gail Seymour, Diane Sherlock and the Wiedemann Family enabled us to present more than $8,600 to AmeriCares.

We are proud of our students and all that they have accomplished. We are grateful that with the communities’ help, we were able to make the holidays a little brighter for the victims of the Gulf Coast hurricanes.

Sincerely,

Michelle Hiscavich

on behalf of

The Benefit Concert Committee
