Trinity Church, Welcoming Newcomers Since 1711, Has A Renewed Focus On Hospitality

For almost 300 years Trinity Episcopal Church has been welcoming people from the greater Newtown area.

All are welcome to join at anytime. On December 10 the church will have a particular focus on hospitality and welcoming to all those seeking a warm, energetic, and faithful spiritual home.

“This is a time to reintroduce Trinity to the community,” said Pastor Kathie Adams-Shepherd. “Trinity has added so many new opportunities for outreach and spiritual growth for every age.”

Church school classes that day will have a special emphasis on welcoming newcomers.

Teens will be discussing plans for next summer’s work camp — an annual opportunity for the youth to help others.

The Adult Forum will focus on “The Spirituality of Work.” The forum is at 10 am, situated between the 8:45 and 11:15 services and at the same time as education for every age.

Upcoming events include participating in the Millennium Development Goals, a worldwide effort to eradicate poverty by 2015, and What Do YOU Want for Christmas: Are you enjoying a joyous journey of celebration, or being held captive by the demands of the season? Come explore how we can change the ways we celebrate the Christmas season and transform it into a time of joy and hope.

Service hours are 7:30, 8:45 and 11:15 am Sundays.

Church school and child care is available during the 8:45 and 11:15 services.

Education for all ages is from 10 to 11 am.

Trinity Episcopal is at 36 Main Street (at the flagpole), with a second driveway located off Church Hill Road and plenty of parking available. For more information call 426-9070 or visit the church’s website at TrinityNewtownCT.org.
