Heating Of Danbury

Robert James “Bob” Ward, Sr, 64, of Danbury, husband of Charlotte Lato Ward, died December 5 in Danbury Hospital. Born in Norwalk, November 18, 1942, son of Robert and Hazel Benbow Ward, he had been a Danbury resident since 1970.

Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, Bob Ward, Jr and his wife, Sheila, of Newtown, and Peter Ward of Bethel; a daughter, Donna Doran and her husband, Dr Brian Doran, of Danbury; one brother, Jack Ward of Newtown; four grandchildren, Bobby and Kayla Ward, and Jack and William Doran.

In the 1960s Mr Ward was employed as a baker at Pepperidge Farms, Norwalk. Mr Ward became a heating contractor and eventually owner of W&W Heating of Danbury.

Prior to forming his own company, in the 1970s, he subcontracted heating and steam fitting work for both Dolan and Home Oil Companies. Mr Ward also taught the heating trade at Henry Abbott Technical School in Danbury.

Mr Ward had been a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed many interests over the years including deep-sea fishing, and collecting die-cast autos and trucks. He was a dog enthusiast and an avid poker player.

Services will be Saturday, December 9, at 10 am, in Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk.

Friends may call Friday, December 8, 5 pm to 9 pm, at the funeral home.
