Nine Offenses
Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a Berkshire Road residence in Sandy Hook on the night of December 2, after which they charged a man involved in that incident with nine offenses.
Robert Abric, 35, of 49 Botsford Hill Road had fled the scene of the incident before police arrived, police said.
Police said they then removed the victims of the incident from the house. Police said they later returned to the residence and found Abric inside the building.
Police arrested Abric on two counts each of third degree burglary, violation of a protective order, and violation of a restraining order. Police also arrested Abric on one count each of third degree assault, disorderly conduct, and third degree criminal mischief.
Police held Abric on $100,000 bail for arraignment on the nine charges on December 4 in Danbury Superior Court.
Warrant Arrest
Police report that John Burden, 43, of 6 Jordan Hill Rd was involved in a motor vehicle stop by Monroe police on November 28, after which Monroe police learned that Newtown police held an outstanding warrant for Burden.
Newtown police charged Burden with failure to respond to an infraction and with violation of the Newtown parking ordinance. The warrant stems from Burdenâs failure to respond to policeâs issuance of a parking ticket to him in 2002, police said.
Police released Burden on $100 bail for a December 12 court appearance.
Moving Violations
At about 9:05 am December 2, motorist Victor Moreno, 32, of Danbury was stopped by police for not stopping at a stop sign at Hawleyville Road, police report.
On investigating, police charged Moreno with failure to obey a stop sign and with driving while under suspension.
After processing, police released Moreno on $250 bail for a December 14 court appearance.
Motorcycle Accident
Police report an accident between a 2006 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide motorcycle and a 1998 Ford Contour sedan at the intersection of Mt Pleasant Road and Hawleyville Road about 5 pm November 30.
Police said motorcyclist Joe Donahue, 52, of Thomaston, who had a green traffic signal, was making a left turn from eastbound Mt Pleasant Road onto northbound Hawleyville Road, as sedan driver Shirley Jessup, 76, of 25 Taunton Ridge Road, who had a red traffic signal, made a right turn from westbound Mt Pleasant Rd onto northbound Hawleyville Road.
The Ford struck the Harley-Davidson as the motorcycle was completing the turn. Police said that Jessup told them that she did not see the motorcycle. There were no injuries. Police issued Jessup a written warning for failure to obey a traffic control signal.
Acura Vs Chevrolet
About 7:36 am December 1, motorist Marcella Winters, 40, of Seymour, who was driving a 1994 Acura Integra northward on Hattertown Road, was attempting to make a left turn onto Hi-Barlow Road, as motorist Paul Chuddy, 53, of 78 Birch Hill Road was driving a 1995 Chevrolet Astro-Van southward on Hattertown Road, police report.
The two vehicles collided in the intersection. There were no injuries. Police issued Winters an infraction ticket for failure to grant the right of way.
Sugar Street
A two-sedan collision occurred near 51 Sugar Street (Route 302) about 3:09 pm November 30, police report.
Westbound motorist David Chastanet, 36, of White Plains, N.Y., who was driving a 2006 sedan, slowed in order to make a left turn into a driveway, but was struck from behind by westbound motorist Megan Montague, 21, of 64 Osborn Hill Road, who was driving a 1997 sedan, police said. Montague had attempted to stop, but was unable to do so in time to avoid a collision, police said. There were no injuries. Montague received an infraction ticket for following too closely, police said.

Juvenile Arrested
Police report that they arrested a youth under age 16 on a charge of second-degree breach of peace on December 1. Police provided no details on the nature of the incident that led to the youthâs arrest. The names of people under age 18 who are accused of crimes are shielded from public disclosure by state law. The youth is scheduled for arraignment before a judge on December 18 in Danbury Juvenile Court.
South Main Collision
About 9 am November 22, motorist Lorraine Politano, 43, of Monroe, who was driving a 2002 Toyota Highlander sport-utility vehicle northward on South Main Street, stopped suddenly to avoid colliding with a noncontact, southbound motorist who was making a left turn onto Ethan Allen Road, police said.
Northbound motorist Anna Tas-Padin, 32, of Monroe, who was driving a 1998 Honda Accord sedan, then struck the Toyota from behind, police said.
Police reported no injuries. Tas-Padin received an infraction ticket for following too closely.
SUV Vs SUV
Police report that two sport-utility vehicles collided near 31 Berkshire Road on November 27.
Eastbound motorist Georgios Hasiotis, 47, of Monroe, who was driving a 1997 Kia Sportage, stopped due to traffic conditions, police said.
Eastbound motorist Orlando Lopez, 29, of Danbury, who was driving a 1996 GMC Jimmy, then drove into the rear end of the Kia, police said.
There were no injuries. Lopez received an infraction ticket for following too closely and for driving without a license.
Hybrid Vs Pickup
A hybrid-powered sedan collided with a pickup truck at the hazardous intersection of Country Club Road and South Main Street about 8:46 am November 17.
Police report that motorist Traci Bumgarner, 30, of New Milford, who was driving a 2007 Toyota Prius eastward on Country Club Road, was attempting to make a left turn onto northbound South Main Street, when the Prius collided with motorist Marc Vibbert, 42, of Torrington, who was driving a 2000 Ford F-150 southward on South Main Street.
A noncontact vehicle obscured the view before the collision occurred. Police reported no injuries. Bumgarner received a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
Wallet Stolen
At about 10 am December 4, a personâs wallet was stolen at The Gym at Newtown at 23 Commerce Road, police report. The theft constitutes sixth-degree larceny. Police are investigating the theft and ask anyone with information on the matter to contact them at 426-5841.

Great Hill Road
Motorist Mark Hazel, 22, of 40 Engleside Terrace, told police that he was driving a 1997 Dodge Dakota pickup truck eastward on Great Hill Road about 5:45 am November 22, when he lost control of the truck, went off the eastbound road shoulder and struck a utility pole, after which the truck crossed the road, went off the westbound road shoulder and struck a stone wall. The truck then came to rest against a tree.
Police said Hazel declined ambulance assistance, but indicated that he would seek medical treatment privately. Police issued Hazel an infraction for making a restricted turn.
Mirror-To-Mirror
About 6:48 pm December 5, motorist John Karlson, 62, of Great Quarter Road, who was driving a 2000 Ford sedan, was traveling southward on Great Quarter Road, as motorist Elisa Headford, 35, of Great Quarter Road, who was driving a 1999 Ford sedan, was traveling northward there, police said.
The two vehicles collided, damaging their respective exterior, left rear-view mirrors, police said. Police reported no injuries.
Berkshire Crash
About 2:10 pm December 2, motorist R.A. Tigua-Gomez, 27, of New York City, who was driving a 1995 Ford van southward on Berkshire Road, leaned over to pick up an item from the passengerâs seat, but in doing so, crossed over the roadâs center line and collided with northbound motorist Julia Dee Truchsess, 50, of 123 Edgelake Drive, who was driving a 1998 Jeep Cherokee, police report.
There were no injuries. Tigua-Gomez was verbally warned for failure to drive to the right.
Keys Found
On December 6, a set of keys attached to a key chain was found lying in the southern parking for the town offices at 31 Peckâs Lane. The owner may claim the keys at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841.
Jermiah Collision
About 2:55 pm December 2, motorist Sarah Packer, 17, of 12 Cobblers Mill Road, who was driving a 1999 Honda Accord sedan westward on Jeremiah Road, went over some loose soil on the right side of the road and then crossed the road, entering the eastbound lane, colliding with eastbound motorist Laura Roche, 40, of 41 Cobblers Mill Road, who was driving a 2001 Honda Odyssey minivan, police said.
Both vehicles received heavy front-end damage. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Packer for making a restricted turn. Â
