Newtown Was Hungry

For Rotary Pancakes

The Rotary Club of Newtown Pancake Breakfast saw a full room of tables covered with maple syrup, pats of butter, sausage links, and homemade pancakes as volunteers treated guests to first and second helpings.

The annual fundraiser and social event on December 2 “was a real good turn-out,” said Rotary President Larry Gardner. Students with the Rotary-sponsored Interact Club from the Newtown schools joined the crowd in the Edmond Town Hall’s Alexandria Room and helped serve guests and keep the tables clean.

Chairing the event was Jake Danziger, who explained, “We’re doing just great and are having another banner year.”

This is the 46th year that Rotary has followed the tree lighting at Ram Pasture (postponed until December 8 due to weather) on the preceding Friday night to open the holiday season.

The Rotary-sponsored Interact service clubs are formed at Reed Intermediate and Newtown Middle schools.
