Marcus Tracy (Wake Forest men’s soccer) – As reported on wakeforestsports.cstv.com, the Wake Forest men’s soccer team controlled possession, dominated play and outshot UC Santa Barbara 17-10, but the Deacons were ousted from the College Cup by the Gauchos after falling, 4-3, in penalty kicks ... The Deacs had a great opportunity in the 83rd minute when sophomore Evan Brown served a ball from the Deacs’ own end over the Gauchos’ backline and onto a streaking Marcus Tracy. The sophomore used his speed to race past two Gaucho defenders and into the goal mouth, but his shot was saved by UCSB goalie Kyle Reynish.

Tim Lux (Middlebury College swimming & diving) – Tim Lux finished first in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes to lead the Panthers to a 163-135 win over Amherst in Middlebury College’s 2006-07 dual-meet opener. Lux finished 1:01.23 in the 100 breast and 2:15.83 in the 200 breast and added strong legs in the 200 medley relay (Middlebury finished first at 1:36.71) and the 400 freestyle relay (Middlebury finished second at 3:14.77). The Panthers will visit Springfield on December 9 and then take a holiday haitus before hosting Colby on January 6.

Abby Atkinson (Bucknell University swimming and diving) – The Lady Bisons dropped to 1-3-1 with a 129-106 loss to UMBC (University of Maryland-Baltimore County. Atkinson finished fifth in the 200 backstroke at 2:15.20 and fifth in the 200 breaststroke at 2:33.61, earning two points for the cause. She was also seventh in the 200 individual medley at 2:15.56. The Bisons will return to the pool after the holiday break on January 3 for a meet at Princeton University in New Jersey.

Tierney Carey (St. Michael’s College swimming & diving) – Tierney Carey’s third-place finish in the one-meter diving was the top finish for Saint Michael’s College at the Northeast-10 Conference Swimming & Diving Championships on December 2 and 3. The Purple Knights were seventh overall as Carey notched 16 team points with her 281.10-point performance in diving. She finished behind Ali Bronson of SCSU (375.05) and Tezzy Bergantz of Bentley (296.40).

Catherine Maher (Trinity College women’s basketball) – Cat Maher scored 11 points as Trinity topped Smith College, 57-46, on November 28 while shooting 4-of-8 from the floor. Maher had a tough couple of games on November 30 and December 2, but the Lady Bantams are 3-2 and maher is averaging 6.4 points a game with seven totals assists and five steals.

CJ Maurer (St. Bonaventure swimming & diving) – The Bonnies competed in the 2006 Summa Care Invitational last weekend at the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio. They were seventh out of eight teams after Day 1 and sixth out of eight teams after Day 2. The 1-3 Bonnies will resume their dual-meet schedule at Canisius on December 10 and then will be off until January 14 when they meet West Virginia and Georgetown in Morgantown, West Virginia.

Amy Robinson (University of Vermont swimming & diving) – The Lady Catamounts finished second at the Harold Anderson Invitational hosted by the University of Rhode Island last weekend. Maine won the meet with a total of 847 points while the Catamounts followed with 736, the best finish and the most points ever for Vermont at the meet.

Amber Butler (Bucknell University cheerleading) – Butler is co-captain of a squad that has been cheering on the men’s basketball team (3-5) and women’s basketball team (5-4).
